Kofi, a good article but at least you should have acknowledged the Ghanaian who participated in one of the winter olympics.

Yaw, you're certainly right. I should have mentioned The Snow Leopard, Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, the Ghanaian alpine skier who took part in the Vancouver Olympics. He certainly should have been mentioned in an article like this. He may be the reason why Ghana is a member of FIS and I should I have mentioned it.
I think it just didn't occur to me even though I know of his story well.
Thanks for mentioning it, Yaw.

WE HAVE AFRICAN CDN AND AMERICANS WHO PLAYED IN THE NHL. INFACT, THE FIRST BLACK PERSON TO PLAY IN THE NHL WAS AN AFRICAN CANADIAN CALLED WILLIE OREE AND HE PLAYED FOR BOSTON BRIUNS. THERE ARE STILL MANY BLACKS IN THE NHL BUT BCOS OF RACISM U DONT SEE TOO MANYBLACKS ASPIRING TO PLAY HOCKEY. SECONDLY, THE AVERAGE SALARY OF AN BASKETBALL, BASEBALL AND NFL PLAYER IS MORE THAN A PLAYER WHO PLAYS IN THE NHL. ITS ALSO EXPENSIVE TO BUY HOCKEY EQUIPMENT SO MOST BLACK PARENTS DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO SPONSOR THEIR KIDS AND DATS WHY U SEE MORE WHITE PPL PLAYING ICE HOCKEY. CANADA IS THE BEST ICE HOCKEY COUNTRY. INFACT, CANADA IS THE BRAIL OF ICE HOCKEY...FROM YOUTH TO ADULT..MEN AND WOMEN

I don't think Ghanaians are sad for lack of snow on their territory. Winter sports are very fascinating but it is important for Ghanaians and the entire African community to develop football and be very formidable in it. It is very sad that the countries that enjoy fascinating winter sports are still champions when it comes to football. Even more sad is the fact that you don't see Ghanaians abroad, playing professional ice hockey or other related winter games. There was only one African girl I saw taking part in dance skating.

I wouldn't say we are ' missing' anything by not participating in winter sports. We don't play winter sports because our continent is warm and we have no snow. And I think that's perfectly alright!

American football is not a winter sport. I mentioned it as a new sport that can be enjoyed if you understand the rules - just like ice hockey.

How many people play cricket in Ghana now? I think that game is disappearing from our country. The distance between cricket and baseball is not long. If we have stopped playing cricket, how can we take on baseball in which we have no tradition?
Remember too that baseball has been popular in S Korea and Japan for ages because of the American presence there. And South America is near USA and they have the tradition of watching baseball from that country. And since USA was not our colonial master, we don't have any tradition of baseball.
Even basketball which is a world game and not too costly to play is not popular in Ghana. Only football...
