Nice to see you back here again, Francis. No matter what one thinks about your writing, one still wants you to continue writing. It feels sad when you go away...
And the same goes to all those regular contributors who have left us.
Where is Akadu Mensema?
Daniel Pryce came back recently after some hiatus. His last piece wasn't very good and was squarely condemned but it's great to see he hasn't quite abandoned us.
But I miss some very old ones indeed. Nana Amma Obenewaa (NAMO) is the one I miss most. What's up with him/her these days?
I miss Lola (Washington) too.
SAS hasn't written for some time but I guess he's not really left us. The same can be said of OYOKOBA too who can be seen now and then with the odd comment even though he doesn't write articles anymore.
Then I wish to say that there are a few people who should DEFINITELY WRITE LESS. They are: Adofo, Bokor and Okoampa!!!

Are you proud of your command of the Englishman's s language? Slavish mentality has got to your head so much that even though, you appear to have some kind of education, you have not liberated your mind. It is the incoherent intellectuals like you that are sinking Africa deeper and deeper into the mire. You lots result to prevarication, and only pursue your selfish interests to the detriment of the masses. Tell me, are you not worried about the throes of the economic collapse that the good people of Ghana are experiencing at the moment? Boundlessly unwise. Please use your pen wisely!

Kwarteng's BOGUS ENGLISH FOR CHRISTMAS:
"We mention the media because they an important part of the problem,...???"
"...that of promoting partisan politics,...???"
CONCLUSION
We mention the media because they an important part of the problem, that of promoting partisan politics, political ethnocentrism, and political sycophancy, all potential menace to national security and internal cohesion. It is therefore essential that the coalition we have in mind should pursue a political philosophy that looks beyond the political ethnocentrism and ideological partisanship of corporate Ghana. It may help however help if this third force can make Nkrumahism its ideological fulcrum, with the support of the inclusion of other progressive ideologies. We hope Ghanaians reconsider our proposal and work hard to kick out the two major political parties. Getting the cabals and enclaves of kleptocrats from Ghana’s duopoly should be of primary concern to all well-meaning Ghanaians. There is also no reason why the Attorney General of Ghana should be glued to the Ministry of Justice. There is no point belaboring how this institutional marriage encourages bureaucratic corruption.
Let us therefore try a new political force, for it is high time we moved past the ideological parochialism of Ghana’s entrenched duopoly, a proposition that has taken so long to rear its head for popular consideration and adoption. In the end we may have to appeal to Ghanaians to do right by themselves, given that they know better other than merely paying servile homage to political parties that do not care about their plight, patriotism, human dignity, and national development, with the calculating commission of Ghana’s duopolistic manipulation of public psychology. We strongly believe that the era which saw the political methodology of duopolistic manipulation of the public conscience should be a thing of the past. Let Ghanaians show those two parties the door if they care for their future and the future of posterity. This is a generous dictate of common sense and moral sense. A wise man, they say, is the one who does not allow his balls to be stepped on twice.

Everybody is entitled to his/her personal opinion. But when such opinion is based on falsehood and yet presented to the general public as the truth it behooves, then, on the victim of such falsehood premised opinion to react accordingly.
I think the innuendoes, the jingoistic and irresponsible attacks on the opposition NPP, particularly the Akans( Asantes to be precise), is highly misplaced, unnecessary and highly unfortunate.
This columnist has once again proven some of us right by demonstrating our long held suspicions about his true colors which he has been, otherwise, trying very hard to conceal from the general public - a wolf in a sheep skin, that is, to say, a core and ardent NDC man in a deceptive Nkrumaihist characterization.
Yaw Kwarteng, the Asante-Mfanti 'half-cast' cunningly started the appendage of this piece very well by trying pretentiously to sound objective in the very few paragraphs that proceed his introductory statement. And he quickly deviated to unleash an unprovoked ethnocentric attacks on the adherents of the most vibrant, the oldest and the one and only one political tradition which has demonstrated to the good people of Ghana, a proven capacity to serve them in dignity if good governance is of relevance here.
And who is he trying to deceive or please?
Of course not some of us but the gullible and the real ethnocentric buffoons on this forum who deliberately tag Asantes as ethnocentric in order gain some undeserved political capital. Label the Asantes as 'arrogant' and I will give you some credit for that since such label is sometimes erroneously linked with the principled, the industrious and the hard working class who have chalked for themselves some economic successes which is the envy of these incompetent nation wrecking buffoons in government. But to label the Asante as tribalistic is some stupid that any sane Ghanaian can do. Who in Ghana doesn't know that to the Notherner every single individual northerner is a brother, a sister, a cousin a father and mother? And who doesn't know that to the Trokosisi every individual Trokosi , either from Togo or Benin, is Nyebro? Who is in right sense would say the same about Asantes? So for these same group of people to turn around and accuse and the Asantes of who they do best is an insanity of epic proportion. By the way, as far as I am concerned, Kwarteng, Bokor and Andy K are the three columnists who are noted for inciting tribal sentiments on this platform. Don't tell me Prof Okoampah is tribalistic. He sometimes humorously use some derogatory remarks like the coining of "Atinga-Trokosi" and stuff like that but he is certainly not ethnocentric. The Akans, particularly Asantes cannot be said to be ethnocentric. It is far from the reality. The rumor is even rife out there that the Asante women were made to sleep with the men from Atinga North to give us the beautiful personality we today and I am a living example and attestation to this fact so what is the fuss?
Give us a break,Yaw Kwarteng . You can do better than stooping so low to the level these ethnocentric criminals who are running the economy into a ditch.

Would you kindly enumerate the falsehoods propounded by Mr Kwarteng!! By the way Okoampa-Ahoofe or Mr Figure out as your choose to disguise yourself today, what do you mean by Asante/Mfantsi halfcaste??!! You absurdities are manifestly ridiculous. It is patently obvious in your comments that you are an ethnocentric jingoist! If Mr Kwarteng is of Asante heritage as you postulate, how then does he qualify as an ethnocentric jingoist when he points out the ethnic politics practiced in the NPP? Are you aware that the current intraparty infighting within the NPP has been described by various NPPites as an Asante vs Akyem fight! Your ludicrous attempt to describe O-A as a high minded writer instead of the nakedly partisan/tribalistic purveyor of falsehoods fabrication and ethnic denigration does not pass the smell test!! In conclusion Mr figure out aka Okoampa-Ahoofe you have only succedededu in revealing your jingoistic tendencies, your severe aversion to historical facts and addiction to conjuring fake bogeymen justify your obdurate attempts to make the real world conform to your paranoid fantasies!! Please return to the neocolonial swamps from where you hope to emerge and partake in the imperialistic rituals of genocide and ethnic cleansing!! Your blood soaked fantasies will never come to pass!! With respect to Kwarteng's Reference (8), a most reasonable inference is this:
It is because of "The Scourge Of Partisan Politics" that many Ghanaians operate as if GHC3,600,600 (million-cedis) spent "branding" 116 buses with images of current and former leaders is a lot more important and worthy of dismissal of a minister compared to the loss of GHC23,057,340,000.00 (billion-cedis) during the past 5 years, and potentially, just as much loss the next five years (2015-2020).
How else do we explain the abject failure by Mr. Mahama's NDC to provide results of a business case analysis explaining clearly how their modified NPP engineered "Ghana Hybrid System" for Ghana's oil contracts is superior to the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) that would have entitled Ghana to about 60% of the Oil, versus the 17 received over the last 5 years?
Thus far, precious few Ghana nationals are asking the right questions.
Fact is, the Mahama government is creating numerous contracts for Ghana's oil that is allowing their officials and their friends, among them lawyers like Effah-Dartey, to skim from the top, even before the contracts are signed. (That was the basis of our critique of Franklin Cudjoe's IMANI this week).
ITEM: We do not wait until after the contracts have already been signed to ask questions in the interest of Ghana. (The PSA does not allow that sort of cheating).
THE PARTISAN ANGLE:
The Mahama government is telling Ghanaians the NPP chopped!
Therefore, Ghanaians should allow his NDC and him to also "chop".
And the NPP is conflicted because it is their formula, one they hope to reclaim. (So, why should Hybrid Hammond, Akuffo-Addo, and their NPP call for the PSA?).
And the CPP, PPP, and the rest! Only they themselves know what is important to them.
(So, naturally, "partisan" Ghanaians still can't be bothered to support the PSA campaign).
Now, today, on the other side, the Energy Minister is asking Ghanaians to pat him on his back for managing Dum-Sor. But our minister is neglecting to tell us how much money he has spent already for the "little" results.
ITEM: If anything, from our vantage point, Mr. Mahama ought to sack the Energy Minister for failure to properly investigate the past losses, and the projected future losses. Unless, of course, Mr. Mahama himself is deep into the "Predatory" game.
(Read more about all of that at www.GhanaHero.com/FTOS_GH_Campaign).
Real timely!
Thanks, Francis Kwarteng.

Multi-party system and partisan politics have inextricably become the Achilles heels of Ghana politics. With a largely semi illiterate population, it is predictable for multi-party system to morph into partisan politics. It is like casting pearls before swine - they trample over them because they have no use for them. Post independence Ghana was characterized by political unrest, which resulted in killings, assassination attempts and all the things you mentioned in your piece by the opposition. Now Ghanaians have come of age, even in illiteracy, and instead of throwing bombs and killing others, they have substituted these acts with partisan politics. The only solution this problem a well funded mass education.
As I have always maintained, the greatest disservice to Ghana's body politic is buried in the 1994 Constitution, hatched and promulgated by JJ Rawlings to suit his personal whims and caprices, and unless we subject our Constitution to total alteration or a complete overhaul, our country is doomed.
As I have always maintained, you pointed out correctly, the Executive has too much unrestricted power - there are no checks and balances as far as Ghana's Executive is concerned. When an absolute power is vested in the Executive by way of executive appointments and absolute control of the Consolidated Account (the Treasury) in a very partisan political environment such as Ghana, then you can expect abuse of power in its worst narrative. The Americans knew better and deferred the power of the purse (Treasury) to the Senate, while the Executive maintained the power of executive appointments.
It is sad that the Ghanaian is not sophisticated enough to ask why the Consolidated Account is always empty when a new party comes to power. Despite the sale of over 300 of Nkrumah's state-owned enterprises by the NDC government, JA Kufuor and his NPP government complained in 2000 that the Consolidate Account was empty when they took over the reins of government. Ditto in 2008 when JA Kufuor and his NPP lost the election. Again, the in-coming NDC complained that the Consolidated Account was empty - looted by the losing party in the control of the Executive.
Until we as a people ditch the pseudo-American-style system of government, and adopt the British Westminister-style of government where absolute power is vested in Parliament, our country has no future because thieves like JJ Rawlings, JA Kufuor and incompetent JD. Mahama will always dip their thieving hands into the cookie jar and take us to the cleaners.
