C.Y. Andy Kwawukume, before you try to edit the typos out for other writers just because they write about "The Danquah-Busia Version Of The Preventive Detention Act" and tidied it for a better read by a wider audience, better check your own Grammar as well as your typos.
Now Andy-K, I urge you to make it plausible to readers the meaning of "we learned" in the below construction from a paragraph of your bloody tribal and partisan nonsense!
Are you not ashamed to say you tried to correct the typos of the writer for a better read by a wider audience?
Who do you think you are? A notorious fucken Ewe? But writing "we lerned"
------------------------------------
“The Danquah-Busia Version Of The Preventive Detention Act” by Nyamekye, Kwabena, I wrote this off the cuff response. I have tried to edit the typos out and tidied it for a better read by a wider audience. Above all, I added some juicy meat to it all can salivate and, hopefully, start a more academic research to the subject
=> "we learned! What a man! And the man "no go school ooooO!" I tell you, “he no get classmates!”

I meant I tried (and obviously know I'd fail) to correct the typos in the comments I wrote myself in response to Nyamekye, not what Nyamekye wrote. He wrote quite good English and I can't recollect any typos in it. Btw, did I write "we lerned"? Really? I shall take a look! Ok, "we learned".
Man! You've got time o! I just read through and noticed more serious omissions than that. But let's not waste time on typos. Mind the engine. I am going to bed.

Unfortunately, the Orwellian, undemocratic and one candidate contests used to be seen in the erstwhile Soviet Union has been forced on the NDC party again. After pushing out Mr. George Boateng violently and tagging him with insanity for daring to contest the slot with Mahama, the biggest patapaa has now been declared a candidate elect unopposed. The truth is, Mr. Mahama is undemocratic communist relic doing everything to cling to power, and I believe Ghanaians would not allow him to rig the elections again as he did in 2012

Goodjob Amega Yaw, being intimately familiar with the longest serving PDA detainee, I can say this " gari salt and water diet" was a myth, true political detainees numbered between 400-500!! Because of their stature most high level detainees were treated with kid gloves, JB Danquah was released from his first detention due to Dr Nkrumah's doubts about the case against him and his desire that the PDA not be applied out of vindictiveness. The grand Chevrolet limousine utilised in Dr Nkrumah's motorcades 59-60 was immediately returned when it came to his notice that it had been illegally requisitioned from said detainee among other properties, said properties where released fort with! In closing I will repeat said detainees assessment of Dr Nkrumah : Dr Nkrumah was far ahead of us, his admirable qualities were many his character defects few and minor, " Dr Nkrumah was generous, far from vindictive and had clean hands he did not steal from his people the people of Ghana. Ghana has gone backward since my 49th birthday, 24th February 1966". This person along with Kotoka a childhood acquaintance intervened to prevent the destruction of many government records. As a child I often wondered why my older relatives were much more " eye-red" than the detainee about his detention, compelling me to research that era doggedly over the last two decades and a half, my conclusions are the same as the detainee!! His view of Dr Nkrumah may be summed up in this pithy statement: Had Dr Nkrumah and the CPP been allowed to participate in the fraudulent elections of 1969 it was a foregone conclusion that they would have been returned to power with a significant majority!! As I say when I want to induce 'eyered" among some of my older relatives: " thank our gods for OSAGYEFO & PDA or I would never have been born!! GREETINGS

Meaning the guy didn't go to school so he never ate the beans and gari sold to the pupils at the mission house where the schools were. He only ate the ones made at home or sold in the market.
Well, perhaps if he had gone to school, he would have refined his natural gifts and not use his knowledge to sell people...
It was not only the PDA that was misused by individuals for their own purposes. Many of those who went into self-imposed exile after the Alavanyo riots were not being sought after by anybody. It was enough for their personal enemies to spread the rumour or cry out: "They're coming oooo", and you ran away leaving your wife and farmlands behind. Of course, your enemy took over your wife too...
But the thing was that in the latter days of Nkrumah's regime, it was not exactly a safe thing to be his opponent (or rather an opponent of the CPP). How many stories did we not hear of Young Pioneers reporting their own parents to their leaders? Again, many of these may just have been rumours.
It can be argued that Nkrumah himself may not have been responsible for all the enthusiastic CPP members taking the law into their hands and doing things their own way. But he was still the leader and the buck had to rest on his desk...
But Andy, by concentrating the story on your own illustrious family, are you not in danger of becoming like Okoampa who is always going on about his ancestors?

Bob,
Did you want me to continue hiding the fact that my relatives were major actors in the events I narrated? Look, I am sick and tired of ignorant nonentities whose great grandparents did not even lead a single hamlet into the Gold Coast putting on airs , behaving as if they own that country, know its history and constantly insulting even insulting those of us whose parents, grand sires and what not were at the helm of affairs for centuries until not long ago.
I have to come clean and tell it like it is. Our ancestors made the history others are arguing about, and so we know better - at least those of us who took some interest in listening - what happened.
As for Ahoofe, don't compare me to him. His family tolis are of another kind, too personal and having nothing to do with the public discourse. Do u that his father is actually from Peki, even though his great grandfather is an Akyem who married a daughter of a Kwadwo Dei ?
Yes, a lot of what is peddled about the PDA are just malicious rumours.

This account on the the PDA provides an uncommon perspective a lot closer to home, so to speak. It is a lot more objectives than the paper that caused Mr. Andy Kwawukume to render this account about those events during 1955-1966.
We will caution realism.
One cannot, in 2015, sit in one's living room and shed tears because suspected traitors and subversives did not have access to habeas corpus procedures and Miranda rights, in 1955, 1964, etc.
READ: "...The PDA was therefore relevant and sorely needed to deal with a new nation facing the challenges of integration, cohesion, legitimacy, etc., etc. - the so-called centripetal and centrifugal forces..."
WE SAY: Agree!
ITEM: We've also read the paper by Michael Gyamerah and Ekow Nelson. We agree that the paper is an important contribution to the literature on the PDA. Also, this year, Francis Kwarteng penned 5 essays on the subject:
1. JB Danquah: The Case for His Arrest and Detention 14 March 2015
2. The Case for J.B. Danquah’s Arrest and Detention 14 March 2015
3. J.B. Danquah And Co.: The Case For The Preventive Detention Act Part 3 07 March 2015
4. J.B. Danquah And Co.: The Case For The Preventive Detention Act Part 2 06 March 2015
5. J.B. Danquah And Co.: The Case For The Preventive Detention Act 05 March 2015
THEREFORE, on account of our commitment to Ghana-Centeredness and reckoning of history, we will review those papers and issue a compedium of the Definitive Case for the PDA, in one volume, in one place. That document will be published on GHanaHero.Com, under that banner.
However, the paper that was the subject of the latest essay by Mr. Andy Kwawukume on the PDA will not make the cut for several reasons we will provide in a subsequent comment.
Greetings.

Events and written records now show that we cannot go on believing all the things Ankrah and the NLC said about Ghana in 1966, and later. A lot of the things they said were lies and Mr. Nee Adjei-Blebo simply regurgitated some of the same lies, through "hearsay".
In the main, the NLC failed to tell Ghanaians that the government of the United States, through CIA (and other governments - UK, France), were actually the real Masters of that coup. Also, the NLC promised Ghanaians and the World a neutral foreign policy which they failed to deliver
Nee Adjei-Blebo tried to tell us there were as many as 3,000 political prisoners who were subsequently released from prion by the NLC. That is so over-stated it is a lie!
(GORGORDUTOR above estimates 400-500).
The actual number, as reported by the Ghana Red Cross, a US-centric agency no less, was estimated at 800. Assuming there were 1,000 such releases, there is therefore the number that were just criminals.
The disorder and violence in the streets of Accra and other major cities were caused by those convicts where were also released probably as a part of of plan to bump up the number of "political prisoners."
And the NLC itself quickly decreed their own version of the PDA.

The damage to generation X has already been done by those who could care less about Ghana than their own pocket books. A look at all the irresponsible posts on the Web about Ghana and the CPP shows they are authored by Ghanaians living abroad, classroom educated and uneducated alike. Who said ignorance is reserved for only the uneducated or undereducated when we have Ghana's classroom educated few?
I am yet to read a posting on a web by any of the people of Ghanaian parentage living in the Diaspora who dare challenge the PDA's being used to hold people in detentions without trial? It does not take a rocket scientist or PhD theoretical Physicist to figure that all those who bash Nkrumah era PDA rest at ease in their new found communities knowing the relative security they enjoy come care of secretive renditions and detentions of accused people by democratic governments because of the global war on terrorism. At the heart of all the anti Nkrumah and CPP is a class of Ghanaians who are tribalistic, unprincipled and delusional to think they have a birth right to leadership roles in Ghana but for which were cut short by an Nkrumah and the CPP who dared to dismantle their delusional kingdom. The mark of relative progress or lack of progress in Ghana should not be decided ir determined by people who wrap themselves in democratic slogans but by a nation of people wise to choose indoor toilet facilities, running water and reliable supply of electricity over cellphone and the filth that bring about cholera even at our universities. We cannot change fools inside and outside of Ghana; they are bound to continue their folly hoping no one has the common sense to see through their thick cake of tribal foolishness.

Most of the time some people make it sound that the scholar is the one who shout louder and pew lies.
The imperialist take no prisoners so that one would even find him or herself in preventive or protective detention. Patrice Lumumba who was murdered by the U.S. and other western secret services in 1962 and up till now we can not locate his remains was not granted the right to preventive detention. Amical Cabral suffered the same fate, Samora Michel the same, Slobodan Milochovich, Murmur Ghaddafi and even the golden boy of western terrorism Osaman Bin Laden was not detained.
It is a fact that the wars that the U.S. and her allies caused around the world is a matter of misinformation, mostly by people who can not access power through the normal universal adult suffrage so does that through covert means and overt, which is NATO military intervention to overthrow governments established with the right to universal adult suffrage. It is full of corruption because people are purposely paid to lobby the U.S. President and other NATO leaders to be installed as head of state of their countries by outlawing and detaining members of the party that was in power.
