Congrats Asuah...
I think wat we need to do as a nation is to revive da constitution at da MMDA's so dat planners can assume certain level of powers to ensure dat plans nd policies are carried out efficiently nd effectively without any external influence from (politicians, chiefs tc) which at most times distort the line of thought of planners in the implementation of planning layouts and policies.
Until dat is done planners will always be played to the gallery

Good article, Mr. Asuah.
The article brings to light some pertinent issues facing the decision making body; and the ultimate question- WHO HAS THE POWER TO DO WHAT?
We live in a fuzzy world indeed.

Augustine Yaw Asuah,

So, how did we get to....
YOUR: "....As the Holy Book says human beings by nature will disobey simple rules and regulations with the least opportunity (if you are in doubt ask Adam and Eve, Genesis 3: 16) that is why we have laws to punish offenders..."?
WE SAY: Are we going to be serious with objective data? Are were engaged in a liturgical, ego-driven trip siting in chairs and facilities at the "Department of Planning, KNUST?
Why is that necessary from a Science and Technology institution funded by the People of all religions?
Are you saying everyone must know about that one, and believe in that ?
THEN THIS: "...Now the big question, who has the power to compel obedience? Since the same “poor attitudes” towards waste and waste management.....And it is also believed that choked gutters are partly responsible for flooding in the cities..."
WE SAY: Please argue that there are convenient, safe, accessible, alternatives that the People (whatever their religions/beleifs) just plainly refuse to use?
And, as for using "more bulldozers" as a way for "decongesting our cities", we only ask that you follow your other train of thought and effort: "in-depth study" of the root causes of those problems.
Thanks greatly for the effort and the data. That is what we must expect from KNUST in these matters.
Greetings!!!!!!!!

Thank you Augustine for the insight.I cant agree with u more but you and I know that these problems cant be solved so far as we have jhs graduates, foot soldiers and people with no prior background in public administration as DCE's, MCE's, Mayors, and heads of DPCU's, RCC's. Just look at the magnitude of DCE's and MCE's who want to become MPs, and you think they would implement policies that is likely to make them unpopular with the masses?? What a failed country.
