Clearly, the EC Chair has badly missed the point. The NPP presented a list of specific issues they find wrong with the election register, for which reason they demand the creation of a new one. If the forum put up by the EC had examined those specific issues raised by the NPP, then one could place some value on their conclusions regarding what should be done about the register; I.e. whether the register should be fully replaced or merely cleaned. What happened rather was an argument based on political emotions and biases; rather than based on whether or not the Ghanaians will be comfortable and prepared to live with register in spite of all the deficiencies pointed out by the NPP. Or, whether those issues identified by the NPP can be easily cleaned from the register. And again, whether the cost of cleaning can be established to be much lower than the cost of preparing a new register.
Unfortunately, however, the forum did not have the critical problems identified with the register tabled for a dispassionate discussion. What comes out, however, is that the EC Chair appears not even to have read the petition or taken the issues raised concerning the register as seriously as they deserve. She treats the petition submitted to her by the NPP as a "love letter", rather than a basis for a thorough investigation. Is it not possible that an investigation could bring out some problems that would point more to a replacement rather than cleaning the register? The question then is why place the cart before the horse in this matter by holding the forum on the register before carrying out the investigations into the critical issues raised by the NPP? The EC Chair and her team need to sit up, live up to the responsibilities for which they were appointed, and save the entire nation from the fall outs that could come from the deliberately careless manner that the EC appears to be handling the entire matter. May God bless our homeland Ghana.

It is now abundantly clear that the five-member committee set up by the NDC/EC league to receive proposals from stakeholders, study them and present its recommendation to the EC for cleaning or changing the voters' register was just another hoax.
The committee was a facade because the lady in bed with Mahama used the forum to tell Ghanaians what she would do to rig the election for NDC without waiting for any recommendation from the committee. She did not only borrow the twisted logic and flawed arguments of the NDC to keep the tainted and bloated voters' register, she also borrowed the very words General Mosquito has been using all along to ensure that the electoral thievery remains intact for them to steal the verdict of Ghanaians who are visibly yearning for a change.
I think the lady is abusing the phrase "independent EC", which I believe means being free from undue influence and interference of those in power to mean her ability to behave dictatorially and help her favorite party steal verdicts fraudulently without any fear of the law. I don't think the word independent in this case means immune from prosecution and removal from office. After all, there are channels and procedures used for the prosecution and removal of presidents, judiciary and parliamentarians from office if they commit crimes against Ghana and its people. Is our independent EC above the law?

Ghanaians especially those in leadership positions keep burying heads in the sand when faced with grave national issues because they believe everything is a non-issue as far as Ghanaians are concerned. We may have dodged the bullet a number of times but complacency we must remember is not a bullet proof vest. One day we may have to pay the ultimate price for failure to listen to the voice of the oppressed people because the voice of the people is the voice of God.
