Sir, as a seasoned writer, I would expect that you would have shown some objectivity in your piece. A discredited voters' register is not good for a young democracy like ours. On the other hand, this register was only compiled 4 years ago. Are we going to keep compiling one after each election or look at the elements that contribute to the claims, real or imagined, that the register is not credible. There are other checks and corrective measures that can be used to weed out any names that are not supposed to be there. I also believe that it is not fair to castigate Dr Afari Djan for the election petition. Both the ruling and the opposition parties were stating that they had won the last election based on the now-challenged (by the NPP) register. Would the NPP had cried for a new register if they had been declared winners of the last election based on the perceived faults they say that they have discovered?

How is it that what one with an indemnity clause behind his back says is the important thing the "free people" must do, Mr. Duodu?
In sum, we could say that all that Mr. Duodo has proven is that the Dr. Afari-Djan was not a micro-manager. That, we could conclude.
Further, as we've proven, the Bawumia Power Point slides that started all of this is full of more gas than evidence.
More important, all the reports we've seen from the last elections provide recommendations for ensuring voting is better organized next time. A new register was not one of those recommendations.
So, the question still remains: where is the guarantee that every "party" will accept the "new register", or the election results next time, just 13 months from that elections, after Ghana borrows money for that "new register"?

It has been used only ONCE before (2012) and if things have been found to cast doubt on the integrity of the process, that is only to be expected pf a new system. The opportunity should be taken to correct the mistakes made. That is what the call for a new registration is all about.
