The professor has shown that there can and must be a new breed of citizens able to uphold the law. The foundation has been laid by the investigative reports of Anas and numerous exploits. What is left is for the current decadent regime upheld by the corrupt incorruptibles to leave way for the rule of law to become the new normal. A case of the "beautyful" ones not yet born?

WE SAY: We agree!
In this case, we are reminded of Nana Akuffo Addo Danquah telling us he will not steal from Ghana and will declare his assets if he wins the presidency! Next, he told us corruption cannot be eradicated, as if we needed that elementary reminder!
So, the question is, will Mr. Akufo-Addo Danquah be a 1-Man government who will not steal from the people?
Does he know history, or not?
Further, what is the high morale virtue and courage declaring your asset when the law requires that it be done in the first place?
Also, the last time he was in government (as Attorney-General), did he, or didn't he, and why?
Finally, what prevents him from declaring his assets today, to the extent he wants to be Ghana's President, and he is one of the first people to know politicians do not do what they promise to do, after being elected.
And on the other side, Mr. Mahama, the current President.
The last we saw/heard, he'd outsourced all responsibility for cracking down on corruption to preachers and ordinary people all over Ghana - from Paga, to Cape Coast, to Half Assini, to Keta, to Dormaa Ahenkro, and so forth.
But, Mr. Mahama knows that the preachers themselves are corrupt, at least 80% of them, if we can borrow Prof Adei's "metric".
And the average man, as far as we know, is already doing their part for Ghana.
In short, Mr. Mahama has little of Mr. Kenyatta's anger and determination! He even has less of Mr. Buhari's determination and provable actions to reign in corruption in Nigeria.
Greetings!

The lack of checks and balances in the Presidency is the root cause of all manner of problems in our fledgling democracy. Democracy is defined by many as; peace, order, and good government. Our democracy is devoid of the two most important ingredients that have sustained western democracies, and they are; order and good government.
The 1992 Constitution has done so much damage to Ghana's democracy because there are no provisions inherent in it to check the Presidency. The short-sighted JJ Rawlings made sure he tweaked the American-style democracy with its inherent checks and balances to suit his selfish interest. The flaws in our democracy are that all power is vested in the Presidency. The Presidency controls virtually all executive appointments and the Consolidated Account (the Treasury). Whereas in the American-style democracy the Senate controls the Treasury and can paralyze the Presidency if does not tow the line.
When we put an incompetent John Mahama in the helm, as well as thieves like JA Kufuor and JJ Rawlings in the Presidency to oversee the Consolidated Account, then we should not be surprised that the Consolidated Account is always empty at the end of the term of every Presidency.
So also is corruption; if you have a morally bankrupt John Agyekum Kufour (a perennial thief) and corrupt to the core, and inept John Mahama and his NDC morons in the helm, no corruption cases would be given due process. Yes indeed, Ghanaians are gullible and naive, and perhaps feeble minded that's why we allow these thieves to take us to the cleaners.
I have maintained all along since the promulgation of the Rawlings-induced 1992 Constitution that, unless we repeal the tweaked American-style Presidential democracy where absolute power is vested in corrupt individuals in the Presidency and adopt the Westminster-style democracy where power is vested in Parliament (the peoples' representatives), then we must kiss our country and resources goodbye. Because the likes of the megalomaniac JJ Rawlings, the docile and ineffectual John Atta Mills, the morally bankrupt and thief John Agyekum Kufuor, and the inept and corrupt John Mahama would always find their way in the all powerful Presidency dupe our people.

Kwabena Yeboah,
In sum, we could use "order and good government," as you summarize. The leaders you cite had little to show in those regards.
Singapore did it with "order and good government", without much "check and balance", and China is doing it!
Meanwhile, Ghana's intellectuals (and lawyers), are missing in action, even as the judges are throwing wrenches into the wheels.
Imagine professors in Ghana collect "Research Allowance."
Where is the research on Ghana?
What is it that the Ghana Academy of Science is supposed to be doing? What have they done is 50 years?
The interesting news today is the Supreme Court throwing out the case filed by Prof Asare contending the "President" has no authority to cause the establishment of a Commission to review and revise the wart-infested Rawlings Constitution(s). The revisions should have occurred under Kuffour, but they could not be bothered.
Prof Mills started it, and Mahama and Bagbin should have gotten it done a while back, if only in memory of Prof Mills.
But, it is a slow jam for Mr. Mahama!
Zeneator Rawlings has not yet arrived at the dance with her nice shoes.
No need to hurry!
No need to worry, Mr. Mahama's P/NDC wants us to know.
Greetings!

Prof. Lungu, you are partially correct in saying Singapore did it without much checks and balances and China too is doing it. But these are not democracies in the true sense of the word. These are benevolent dictators armed with a conviction of purpose to develop their respective countries.
What we have in Ghana is pseudo-democracy where the three arms of government have no functioning power, except one - the Presidency. The Judiciary is toothless and corrupt, so is the legislature. The legislature which in every democracy should have power is now a mere rubber stamp of the whims and caprices of the Presidency. Trouble makers (those who challenge the Presidency) would be committing political suicide since all executive appointments originate from the Presidency.
I know Prof. Kwaku Asare very well, but in this case he might have bitten more than he could chew, because the Presidency has inalienable right (I mean vast powers) in our current constitution to do whatever it pleases. The Supreme Court is absolutely right in throwing out the case.
It is however instructive to note that intellectuals have started speaking out. This succinct erudition by Prof. Akosah is a case in point. Prof. Adai formerly of GIMPA has also lashed out on Parliamentarians, however I would say his frustration is misdirected because if the top is rotten, it stands to reason that the bottom is obviously smelly.
Repealing the present Constitution is our only hope. Power should be vested in Parliament, not the Presidency.

And we will add today, especially TODAY, intellectuals can assume a voice, or more in these things - so long as they are true to themselves, and the Ghana project!
And they must have a certain amount of computer literacy!

No one should be fooled by Paul Kagame, the hideous instigator of the genocide in Rwanda. Professor Akosa should widen his sources of information and try to read progressive sources like Pambazuka, Black Agenda Report, Wayne Madsen Report etc. Kagame presides over a repressive regime that like others of his kind do not wish to cede power. He has managed to intimidate his judiciary to allow him to run for a 3rd time against the stipulations of the constitution. Many are the journalist who have been brutally attacked and imprisoned without trial by this Africom beast.
