The ideals and outcomes of expectation of decentralization did not materialize in Ghana when it has been successful in other nations because of tribal loyalties, inequalities in the distribution of raw minerals and natural resources in Ghana; Kwame Nkrumah was smarter and wiser than all the mind-power of Danquah-Busia crowd. How does development in the Eastern region compare with other regions since decentralization, Okoampa-Ahoofe?
Look, listen and learn, Okoampa-Ahoofe, from events and goings-on in your neck of the woods and you may just learn something new; even dogs learn new tricks. In the USA, land of the free and practices of free market and decentralized democratic values, the national government redistributes taxes by collecting from rich states for distribution to poor states to supplement development. Why do you think that is so? We have a tendency in Ghana to copy things we do not understand because those ideas are trooped in by classroom educated but ignorant people who do not have wisdom to understand the need for application successes. Kwame Nkrumah understood that in a Ghana where tribal idiots and zealots roam decentralization would be another tool for fools and he has been proven right. The only concrete thing Ghana's decentralized scheme has achieved up to date is an expansion of government payroll, an opportunity for the winning political party to install puppets and stooges at local levels and a breed of new dictators. You cannot list an accomplishment anywhere in Ghana that was achieved via local funding; we are in debt because the food we eat in Ghana is subsidized with foreign hand outs and loans. So tell me, Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, where you find wisdom and expectations of success your much talking nonsense gave Ghana? You can hate Nkrumah to the end but not you and certainly not the dead and gone heroes of yours will ever top what Nkrumah had in ideals, ideas, foresight and wisdom; call him a dictator, a fascist and any name you wish but you will never find one of yours to match

Abeeku Mensah you hit the nail right on the head. Let me add that even in the case of industrialization Kwame Nkrumah did decentralization. For instance a cow ranch was in the Greater Accra, the tanery was somewhere in the Northern Region and the shoe factory in Kumasi. There was food silos in all the regional capitals and even some districts. It is a fact that most of our economists and professionals do not take the lessons they are given in the class seriously, and even an advice if it did not come from the Breton Woods Institutions.
Abeeku Mensah the South Korea Ambassador told us clearly that we shall be confronted with the current energy problems if we do not refuse to take advice from our social partners. He said 75% of electricity produced in his country is from nuclear resources which their so-called partners were against but they insisted and had them. If we are to believe people like Dr. Kwame Okoapa-Ahoofe the world will be a plate floating on water, with heaven at the top and hell in the bottom and Africa in the middle. You see how the whole thing is like a pudding.
