Blaming the president Mahama for the contents of his UN speech or for lack of preferred national accomplishment is desperation even by his critics.
Here are some facts folks:
At the time of March 1966 when Nkrumah and the CPP were violently walked out of the door Ghana was relatively at par with China and India. What happened since should be laid squarely on the shoulders or at the feet of people who wanted their freedoms to be innovative, free thinkers and all but saw to it that Ghana is decades behind China and India.
Our brothers, sisters and members of a larger Ghanaian family living in the Diaspora have become just as arrogant, ignorant, unprincipled and lacking wisdom today than before; most are interested in making the news with their tribally induced issues lacking in merit whenever there is news of an official from the government of Ghana coming to their neck of the woods. What economic foundations and or structures can we point to in Ghana that brought in manufacturing and production industries to Ghana except from those in the Diaspora except being front men for foreign interest? What car manufacturing plant do we have in Ghana? What lumber industry did we see in Ghana until the recent Ghana-Korea private partnership to produce furniture in Ghana? What happened to our mineral mining production and or lands? And what does it say about an NPP that talks up a storm each election cycle but yet to initiate and complete a sustainable project in Ghana? How about NDC governments which cannot decide if they are managers of Ghana's economy or gamblers at a crap table with funds from a rich sponsor?
By the way did Kufour and others along with all the known Nkrumah haters not advocate for government to rid itself of government owned companies? So how could it not be a conflict for the Mahama government to talk about a government owned and operated factory in Ghana? Did the Kufour and Rawlings administrations not sell every inch of what the CPP left as government owned ventures?

Are you making excuses for an inept and corrupt administration that cannot tell night from day? The president's performance at the United Nations was shameful,to say the least. The past is important but it's history. We need to be guided by lessons from our past but need we to talk endlessly about it and pay no heed to the present? How can we even work out a future of hope and of change if our present is muted, mortgaged and nothing to write home about? Administrations get changed because they were wasteful and did not serve a useful purpose while in office. We have every right to critique its performance because its rule is not an imposition but a choice we democratically make.
We don't have the luxury of a tomorrow that may have come too late. The fierce urgency of now demands that we have an adult conversation about the direction our nation is moving for this administration is just too corrupt in an unprecedented manner to turn the blind eye to it today besides being incompetent, visionless and having the deer in the headlights syndrome. What happens today will determine to a large extent the future we may want to disown. The President's remarks at the United Nations were shameful to say the least and it's only idiots who say all is well when their house is in flames. Didn't the president's remarks serve as a comic relief and an indictment on his own administration which rules a nation where most people cannot afford one square meal a day, sleep in darkness, lack decent accommodation, have no jobs and those who have jobs don't know when their poor paycheck is coming, corruption is an accepted norm, no health care, etc but government appointees and officials drive gas guzzling V8 vehicles around? Please come again!

The man simply does not qualify to be head of a village in Gonjaland! A man who will stand in front of a CNN sign board and ask to be photographed! Ghana is just a failed banana republic.
