Where do you get your information. This is not as common in New York as you've written and this type of transportation is more confined to smaller areas, it does not extend to long distances.

There is not enough cash in the world that will make your idea a reality in Ghana. For starters take a lesson from a Kufour era idea that fell by the way side because of short term political calculus by the NPP administration. Kufour, Nana Akufo-Addo, Sir John and all the top yahoos of the NPP and the not so confident NDC elite class are people who have travelled to various developed nations where government subsidized mass transits work and work well. So why did Kufour reintroduce the revival of Mass transit to Ghana only to run with his tail between his legs because private transport owners barked? Cheap votes trump ideals of legacy.
For a rail system to work in our cities government may have to buy properties under eminent domain policies and resolve other associated costs. The government, have your pick, be it NDC or NPP, will insert into the agreement clause a percentage of the project cost that may be seen as “goodwill cost”; the price of doing business in Ghana. And if by miracle there is ever a train service in our cities, you just have to look to the Ghana railroads to see how we maintain things in Ghana. In the end catching a ride on a city train would be sources for unwanted criminal activities, unnecessary deaths brought on by petty traders willing to risk life and or limbs to make a buck and the accidental transfer and transport of roaches, rats and mice to homes.

If, as has been suggested by one of the crazy contributors to your article that you are an NDC sympathizer, then you are a very rare example of an NDC person. Im saying so because I think the main idea embedded in your article is a very wise one. It is rare and almost impossible to hear or see anything good or sensible coming from anybody associated with the NDC.
Anyway, I wrote an article a few years ago (about 5 years) on the same subject. In that article, I also suggested that the only way to solve the worsening transport problem in Accra was by an overhead railway system. The article I wrote was quite long and I dilly-dallied with it for a while until I just simply forgot about it and also because I didnt think that people would understand what I was talking about.
However, seeing that you share the same ideas, I will look through it and consider publishing it so that we can share ideas with those who are sensible enough to understand the urgent need to have such a system going in Accra as soon as possible.
Ignore the illiterate reactions from those who dont know what time of the day it is. The brain of the African has been distorted and mutilated to work against the interest of Africa so the above reactions are typical.
By the way, what do you do in the NDC? Are you associated with a dept that deals with transport or what?

Some people are so ignorant. This article is not meant for them anyway so why do they bother to reading it. Are they not those group who only focus on where they get their kenky and pepper. To the strategic visionary the focus would rather be on where one could increase the corn thus maximuming the harvest. This would intend lead to gaining a competitive advantage of the long term farming objectives.

As for those rural boys who are still trying hard to figure out how to configure riding a mule efficiently, they are not even qualified to live within the confines of a modern urban area so we should leave them in the darkness of their own wiles.
Realistic goals first my friend.
