You should have ref the young lady to some so inspirational and comforting REALITIES!
Volcanoes, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes ...
"And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful and EVOLVING world."

You go and tell a young lady with a B.Sc degree that volcanoes and earthquakes have existed on Earth since time immemorial, so she should expect the earth to be destroyed. She will accurately tell you that the Earth has been able to correct the effects of such calamities, but that if it is baked by the sun's rays because climate change has eroded the ozone layer, there is nothing to be done.
It is man's stupidity in creating carbon emissions that will kill The Earth, not a pre-destined destiny. We are not born to lose. Even the Pope says mankind can do something about it. It is only when we accept the fact of human folly and eliminate it that we can have what you call ""peace in the soul"". Parroting inanities isn't the answer.

I can see, they have started planting trillion trees in the Sahara desert. Have you not seen the wanton destruction of the Amazon forest? Have you not seen the severe drought in California? What sort of artificial intelligence is going to revert the wanton destruction of our water bodies in Ghana...when common sense tells us not to destroy them in the first place.I have seen in my life time how western region in Ghana has gone from pristine forest to near desert. Ankobra,Tano,Bia have all dried up. That said, the billionaires are not going to give their AI for free to destitute Africans, are they?

the situation will be irreversible. The Sahara was once an ocean. There are millions of whale bones and other skeletons of marine creatures scattered all over the Sahara. Can we reverse it? No. I was responding to Dono, who thinks billionaires will find every conceivable solutions to our own recklessness.Lake Chad has been shrinking at an alarming rate.

VW management deliberately lied about the carbon emissions of their cars to enrich themselves at the expense of the planet,And you are coming up with such tripe! Human activities such as "galamsey" are not helpful.Bill Gates is not going to spend billions on "cloud seeding" to fill up the Akosombo dam. You can dream on!

Well said, Kofi. Some people need to say something, no matter how foolish it is, just to convince themselves that they are clever.

The quote below was a headline of an article he wrote in the Daily Graphic when the "ODAW LAGOON"over flooded its banks during the Busia administration.
Also, wrote an article on the American civil rights struggle when he returned from a fellowship programme in the US in the early '70's- maybe '71.
He quoted a white journalist colleague, " Mike you don't know how much guilty we feel !" This statement evidently was that colleague's contribution to the African-Americans sruggle for equal rights and his exasperation at the slow pace of that change.
Well, Mike the situation is not as bad as it was then. After all, we have an African- American as Potus, but the Dixie-crat mindset still populate the echo chambers of political discourse, making his life and all who look like him a living hell !
But, Mike Cameroon -Duodu , you are great guy.
