There comes the denial. The writer is saying pretty much all religions believe in the spilling of blood as the highest order of sacrifice to a course. Deny it as much as you want, the truth is always the truth. Why did Jesus has to be supposedly killed (crucified)? So that his blood will cleans off your sin? Couldn't God has simply said everybody is forgiven of Adam's sins from today on, no blood required.

You probably never heard of the Inquisition in Europe and in Spanish Latin America and the burning of witches by the Christians. And not even the religious wars in Europe. Nor Christianity being one of the reasons for colonising Africa and the millions killed in the process. Certainly nothing about the Jonestown massacres. Ma fren, google for all these and enlighten yourself a bit!
Abject ignorance is killing us! I think Stanley was even more subtle in denouncing those two malevolent religions that continue to sow misery and sorrow in the world than good, especially on the African continent and Mideast.
