I suspect if the personal opinions were sampled of workers at the Revenue Authority, all of them to a person will agree with the snippets from the citizenry who were interviewed for this piece: "we will not pay any gift tax"

One of the problem encountered in Ghana is the failure of people filing for tax returns, and even if they file the difficulty of assessing the desired benefits associated them. Also our major difficulty,is the lack of proper database system to track down the giver and the receiver of tax incentives. Hence, the difficulty in the tracking of payment of all taxes couple with 99% corrupt tax officer across the country. It's fact. Everybody, when given chance will work under one the agencies under Ghana Revenue Authority. The reason is not far, because of bribery and corruption.

READ: "...The acting Deputy Commissioner of GRA in charge of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Mr Kwasi Oppong-Damoah, last year told the media it was important that people were encouraged to voluntarily declare gifts they received... Until Ghanaians understand the need to pay tax on gifts, GRA says it will continue to educate people on the importance of all taxes to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the country..."
WE SAY: The acting Deputy Commissioner of GRA in charge of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Mr Kwasi Oppong-Damoah, in equal measure, ought to educate Ghanaians that people like Mr. Mahama, the MPs, and high government officials do not pay taxes on their incomes.
Talking about the importance of all taxes to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the country!
ITEM: Let's try to see the connections to/between all these things!
What a life!
So yes, thanks greatly, Shirley!
