Yes we definitely must showcase our culinary culture for ourselves as well as foreign guests. I was not aware Dr Asibey was an AKORA and Ms Anderson an alumna tutor of Achiimokota!! Several of my sisters were privileged to attend "Beposo Haan" in the late 60's & 70's. As I recall Dr Asibey was headmistress from about 1972, Ms Anderson had relinquished the position but was still on staff! Although a stern taskmistress she was a beloved favorite of the student body!! Two of my sisters' served as Senior Prefect, one going on to teach at the school. Mrs Asibey (as she was known to the student body) encouraged her to pursue graduate studies in education. ABUGISS under these two high quality ladies produced well rounded disciplined self confident young women who went on to great achievements. I will mention a few. Dr Vivian Campbell nee Adu-Aryee, Dr Akosua Adomako of the Institute of African Studies, Ms Doris Appiah-Dankwa, Ms Gloria Akuffo, Ms Rachel Evans-Anfom, Ms Mabel Wilson, Ms Mariatou Jallow and Dr F. Adzo Apaloo to mention a few. For a young boy growing up the fact that Dr Asibey in directing ABUGISS had a multinational staff working for her in that era when Europeans working under an African was quite rare was an eye opener. On staff were Americans (Mr McLaughlin), Britons (Ms Judy Crook) and Mr & Mrs Fernandes from Sri Lanka to name a few. I hope Ms Anderson & Dr Asibey will be recognized and honored for their great achievements in quality girls education in Ghana!!
