Its amazing you have roused yourself from your previous state of hibernation when the GMA called on the govt to act. it hurts that some ghanaians have to die avoidable deaths. My two pesewas is that those of you with voices and are apparently concerned about "the ordinary" ghanaians would have been more useful if you had used your voices when mahama was sleeping on the job

Akufo Addo has disgraced renowned clergy like Otabil, Palmer Buckle and Prof 'Nyansafuor eeeih' to the extent that people don't respect these men again. Now bcos of Akufo Addo, doctors have lost dignity and I fear for their lives. KSM, pls don't beg these greedy, silly and unpatriotic vampires. A word to a fool is not enough, unless it is accompanied with 10 hefty slaps. Let's wait and see what happens to my dear country GHANA.

I really enjoyed reading the article but the end I think, negates most of the good points raised. Of course, some politicians & pastors lie most often, but the impact of their lies, is not as dangerous as doctors. To me, any activity that can cause human death should be avoided, inspite of how justifiable that activity is.
I think the best solution here is for the government to terminate doctors appointment & rehire them with his (the government's ) own condition of service, for those who are interested to sign up. Those who might not like the new policies can come over to the US & practice (provided they pass the medical board exams & also secure work permit ).
And please , there's no need to politicize issues like this & every opinion must be respected. No insults!

I feel sorry for this country. I'm a doctor. I'm not on strike and I believe majority of doctors especially in district and regional hospitals are working. The point is nobody cares to know this fact because of the agenda we as individuals and groups have.
It means I'm against the strike just like you km. Do doctors have the right for condition of service? If so assuming GMA lack ideas, what is your honest method you think they could have used?
I have always thought that once doctors and other health workers are considered as essential workers what it should mean is that they are treated as such and just as ghanians expect them to "work without ceasing" the same ghanians will make sure they get what is their due.
As I indicated earlier, I'm a doctor and let me tell you my fears. The sort of apathy amongst health workers in the public sector is so bad the I don't think the is any difference in quality of care whether we are on strike or not.
Remember one of our presidents said "we pretend to pay them and they pretend to work" so my colleagues will come back and I pray they won't present to work. If you call health walkers as essential, treat them as such. They've not asked for too much

Have you commented on that? Do you know how many people have died from dumsor? Do you know how many people have died from government not paying contractors? Do you know how many people have died on the Nsawam-Apedwa road? You have interviewed Ekua Donkor and Hassan Ayariga enough. One of these days you can interview people about the negative things happening with NHIS, dumsor, Nsawam-Apedwa road, contractors not being paid, eastern corridor road, etc. When you take your interviews outside the comfort of the TV studio, you can have a more balanced view of things that have been neglected & which are causing deaths in our country. Post-harvest losses in agriculture are 50%, bird flu is spreading in Ghana etc. Just go out there, stretch your imagination a bit and you could make more impact at improving the situation in Ghana. I'm sure your daughter would like to have conditions of service when she qualifies a doctor. You can ask her.
