Phillip Kobena Baidoo the Philosopher and War Theoretician Speaks Honey-Manna Style!
READ BAIDOO FROM THE OTHER SIDE: "...It is clear that war was part of the human condition to the extent that a philosopher devoted his thought processes, energy and time to write a thesis on the subject...which to me is much more important to the wellbeing of humanity than a treatise on war. ...(F)or any academic to associate wars with capitalism is as ignorant as a new born baby..."
THEN THIS FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF BAIDOO'S MOUTH, ON YET ANOTHER SIDE OF GHANAWEB:
BAIDOO: "...It is the statist, the communist, the Nazi and the fascist who resort to violence – war – because they cannot produce what they need. This is not a figment of my imagination..."
WE SAY: Well it fits like a "figment"! Quacks like a duck, fits like a duck!
ITEM: The Feudal Lords, the Mercantilists, even Christopher Columbus when he set off on the seas and "discovered" America, were on capitalist missions/enterprises.
It is all elementary. It should not confuse anyone with a high school degree who has with a modicum of reflection, critical thinking skills, and respect for their forebears and history!
By the way, is it science that says "...a new born baby...(is)...Ignorant...", or is it all another Manna story?
Hogwash!

....self inflicted 'lobotomies'. To these hypnotized duo, the success of Ghana awaits the reincarnation of Nkrumah, their demigod. There would be no surprises at all if we wake up one day to find these 'fictionary figures' petitioning Pope Francis, the overlord of the one and only Universal Church, to canonize Nkrumah a Saint. If the aim of these apostles of the moribund Nkrumah's CPP is to scandalously run down the UP tradition in other to help their newly found friends, the criminals in the NDC, to perpetuate their infamous governance on us, I promise, they will fail big time. The mantra, " Development in freedom" of the NPP, the direct offspring of the Evergreen Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition still lingers on. The era of development in tyranny and oppression introduced by Nkrumah is dead and long gone. And all attempts to revive it would be fiercely resisted by the good people of Ghana. The manifestation of this resistance move is already written on the wall for all to see as the reminants of the old Nkrumah's CPP ( Samias CPP, PNC, PPP, ..QPP, YPP, ZPP ...etc) collectively struggle to pass the 3% mark in all general elections in recent times.

WE SAY: We like to speak with facts, not conjectures. The last we checked Akuffo Addo was struggling with the plan for Ghana, looking in from the outside.
For us, this writer, religion is a private matter that must separate from public policy. We do not know what religion or Church Nkrumah ascribed to, to the extent he did a wonderful job separating that from the policy of the government of which he was the head.
That was a good thing for the Unitary government you've benefited from, more than most people from Ghana.
Further, government the world over do not absent-mindedly continue "...era of development..." under "...tyranny and oppression..." by loud-mouths throwing bombs, collecting funds from foreign governments, and allowing themselves to be used the subvert elected the government.
The era of Nkrumah was development of Ghana for all. It is all in the data, even with naked, economic, and political aggression by the West that begun in earnest at least 2 years before overthrow by the gang of first losers. But, the subverting of the Ghana development agenda by the Danquah-Busia-NLM-UP-Confederate cohorts actually started even before 1957, before independence.
So, Ghana needed the PDA for those loud, subversive mouths like J. B. Danquah, and "Run-Away", Give-Me-$25,000-Not-$10-Busia!
Finally, we will say that the tide of change and exposure of the hidden is coming! You could learn a thing or two from even the Pope. After all, the message he took to South America touched on forgiveness by the people for the Church's complicity in "development-by-plunder" of the indigenous Peoples. Nkrumah's voice was strongest, in that area, you must know.
Greetings, Attorney Samuel Adjei Sarfo, and again, nice try!

\...It is in the context of all this knowledge that Ghana’s first president, soon after independence, deemed it fit and proper to concentrate on the formal school system to boost the African personality and to merge the tribes under one great banner of nationhood . Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision for Ghana was the elevation of the confidence of the African and the unity of the nation and her people. This vision extended beyond Ghana’s borders to include the whole of Africa. What Nkrumah conceived of nationhood made philosophical sense because without knowledge and unity, no country can claim nationhood. If ignorance makes people show greater allegiances to tribes at the expense of the nation, then the survival of the nation is under serious threat. For a country to be a nation, her people will have to subsume ethnicity under the aegis of the national interest. The present conflicts amongst the tribes, though so far verbal, is a testimony that our country comprises nations within the state. In effect, we of this generation have repudiated the concept of nationhood with our ethnic animosity and undermined the very tenets under which the nation was founded..." Hi,
This is what SAS wrote on one of my articles:
"Impressive riposte by Prof. Francis Kwarteng.......
I personally think that a broad condemnation of the socialist ideology, no matter from what quarters, is per se simplistic. What is also simplistic is its wholesale imbibation. The better approach is the integration of those ideologies that best suit our circumstances, and I think that is what Nkrumah tried to do. Unfortunately, Nkrumah's socialist principles were mostly couched to perpetuate his personal ambitions and despotic posture, hence his life presidency, one party state and power to imprison his political opponents without trial....
What the so-called Nordic countries have done with socialist ideas serve as good examples of what socialism can do when undergirded by true democratic principles."
SAS wrote this under the title "Integration of Ideologies is Key." See "Re: Nkrumah's Socialism, Full of Ideas, But It Doesn't Work" (Ghanaweb, December 30, 2014).
Baidoo should come and read this. I should have also added that Mobutu, Augusto Pinochet, Felix Houphouet-Boigny, Teodoro Nguema, Lee Kuan Yew, and several others were die-hard capitalists and still ruled under one-party states.
Thanks.

Hi,
Let me just quickly add that those countries (Nordic Model) did not have to endure bomb throwing and terrorism, unlike Ghana under Nkrumah.
Thus they had everything to develop and advance their countries. In other words, Nkrumah could have done more without the subversion (local Ghanaian stooges and their Western patrons), terrorism, and bomb throwing of Danquah, Obetsebi, Busia, and co.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks.

The safest opinion is always lodged somewhere in the middle, and all these ossified positions taken on ideological lines are per se flawed. Even Nkrumah's "Young Pioneer" idea is a good one if only directed toward true patriotism, and not the cultic worship of an individual. But Nkrumah is a poison pill for every idea he touched, because he made it all about him and his ego. That is why we can speak of good ideas emanating from him in contraindication to his arrant dictatorship of which intelligent people will not even debate.
For example, there is nothing wrong with the proper integration of socialist/capitalist principles to suit our particular circumstances; but I object to your notion that dictatorship is an indispensable ingredient in that political admixture. Also, there is nothing wrong with African unity if only it could be safeguarded against the Nkrumaist propensity and template for dictatorship.
I have stated several times that taken in isolation, Nkrumah's ideas, that of a unitary state, continental unity, civic education, educational policy as well as infrastructural development can never be bad if surgically excised from the tumour of his tumecent ambitions and self-serving posturing.
But these ideas, which were never original, were conflated with his evil personality, and for us Danquists, therein lies the problem. We can never subserve our god-given intelligence to a toxic dictator who poisoned the innocence of the people and led Ghana and Africa into the deep connundrum.

Prof. Lungu,
Good day my good professor.
Well, I have been so busy and busy and busy but managed to put Part 2 of "What Ghanaians Can Learn from Pope Francis" together.
In this essay I expose Baidoo's lies about Adam Smith and his "Wealth of Nations," among other interesting topics.
You know the topics Baidoo covers are familiar terrians for me. I do not have to spend time reading peer reviewed technical papers, academic textbooks, newspapers, and ordinary textbooks to respond to him [Baidoo].
I merely have to read Baidoo's articles when time is on my side, have a functional computer, and then at my desk and put my ideas together in response to his articles.
Every topic Baidoo has chosen to write on is familiar to me. So it does not take much to respond to him. The topics Baidoo writes on are ordinary subject matters for many an ordinary reader. Nothing extraordinary there.
Therefore I can respond to him at any time and under most circumstances (no matter how busy I am). I don't have to do any research for the mots in order to respond to him. I have unembumbered access to all the references I need for Baidoo in my head. The references and ideas come so easily when I have to respond to him and others.
That said, I read your intelligent responses to my critics. I really enjoyed. Brillian and insightful. I am however waiting for your final Part 2.
Have a great weekend. I have to attent to something for the day.
Thanks.
