I'm very pleased that at last an African President is bent on making the fight against corruption a living reality of our time. In the past many African leaders have only paid lip service to the fight against the endemic vice that has nipped in the bud most of the continent's development expectations and stalled all efforts to close the ever widening developmental chasm between the West and Africa. We did not win our political independence from the colonial and imperial exploiters on a silver platter but we never anticipated we'd have to contend against our own kith and kin in a mortal battle for survival and for development. After several decades of mass exploitation and marginalization from the western nations, we needed accelerated development to close the yawning gap but home-bred massive corruption and nepotism has repeatedly stifled every emancipation and development agenda that we have held dear to our hearts.
It'd be fair and rational to probe all political administrations since independence but that's a massive undertaking that will leave the Buhari administration no time to do other things that also matter. I think limiting the probe to the last administration will serve Nigeria very well. Let the giant of Africa lead this fight against corruption for survival, unity and development and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa, especially Ghana, will follow. God Bless President Buhari of Nigeria.
