  As a child I thought that God is a white old man with a flowing beard.Africans need to achieve spiritual freedom as much as political freedom.
  As the writer of the article has observed,it can only happen through critical thinking.I gave up on foreign religions when I realized that the notion of god(s) is a personal one,and not intended to be universal.The reason is simple: the enormous complexity of the notion itself is self defeating.

  Questioning any form of belief system alongside scientific evidence and political ideologies is healthy for any developing society; not foolish about that. Why should rational beings readily accept instead of questioning any orthodoxy even those that encourage discrimination, mistreatment of fellow humans and impede human progress? And just because I believe that unicorns exist doesn't render them existent. What is foolish is being fanatic and overly sensitive about any set of beliefs unfounded on any scientific evidence or sound logic and then imposed them on non adherents. Unfounded beliefs have no place on how to develop a nation. If prayers work, Ghana and indeed Africa would have been prosperous than the western secularised world.

  These religious people are not aware how many billion of billions human beings have been murdered, slaughtered and to this present time still murdering, slaughtering, looting and raping their fellow human beings because of this God delusional insanity. Africans and mostly Ghanaians have to clean this filthiness called "God" and the so called "holly shit scriptures" out of their brain and consciousness. Human beings are for everything self-responsible. No reward in heaven and no punishment in hell. Everything is based on the cosmic law of causality e.g. Cause and Effect of your own thinking, thoughts and feelings, your actions and non-actions, on your intellect and rationality, logical and illogical.

On the other hand, if any religion is seeking for the good of society in whatever way shd be embraced by all. Africans shd open their eyes and not be fooled by the devil. Even if you believe in God but you do good to every one you will be far better than one who for the sake of his religion he is enjoined among other things to kill humans.

Our people were defeated in battles captured and slaved, our women were raped etc all these inhumane treatment of black people were allowed by a white caucasian god or gods, man in the clouds. Its high time black african people wake up, use critical thinking and science and not fairy tales and fantasies to develope and enhance our own human community living on this part of the planet earth.

  I am with you my brother from the same tribe, It is very important to make your brothers and sisters understand that the white man and slave trading arabs who gave them the religions have long discarded it for rational thinking and problem solving, however we cannot discard wise words that about in the numerous holy books, for example the bible is such a wonderful life manual if you can apply its teaching in your daily life , always find time to read the bible but do not subscribe to any relation , I am a believer in the power of love as was expressed in the story of Jesus Christ and I know I have a creator since I am not aware of creating myself but how can I accept to worship God the way someone has told me too, no I refuse and know without doubt we all should worship God the way we want to, I have decided to worship God by showing love to his creation my fellow human being. The major reason Africa is so poor is because there is little love but too much hate for one another

It is rather sad that some of the comments seek to launch a scathing attack on the author. Such comments rather corroborate the issues raised by the author about how religion has sadly clouded the analytical powers of supposed rational human beings. This has made such people ignorant, unthinking, and not assertive in reasoning. Religious dogmatism will not simply allow followers to see reason with those who do not share their faith.Religion of whatever nature is about superstition which is imaginary and does not support practicality which the basis for development. So people should wake up from this unproductive way of thiinking and accept rational critique for their own intellectual emancipation
