Sis you read the article? The writers agrees that there has been criminal negligence on the part of those who built in waterways and clogged up gutters, thereby causing floods.
All he is saying is that the demolition of wrongly-sited structures must be planned -- and the Government must accept responsibility for moving and resettling those who have lost their homes. Is that too difficult to understand? Plan and then act -- that is what is done in the civilised world. In Ghana, because of our sadistic officials, we just send in the bulldozers.
So you realise the Govt has shot itself in the foot? What is it going to do about the people it employs from Sodom and Gomorrah -- the drivers, the garden boys, the domestic help?

Kill the messenger -- this has been known since time immemorial If you cannot produce counter-arguments to show he's wrong, just rubbish his name. But I assure you it will take more than your ignorance to touch this writer --even by the foot. To begin with, you can't even spell his name, though it is right there at the top of the article! Laughable commenter.

We don't seem to be hearing the government's side of the argument. Can it be so that govt doesn't know this clear cut and simple argument put forth by Cameron Duodu? Hasn't anybody in govt raised a finger and say: hey, before you send in the buldozers, let's think of this carefully first. There shall be no panic measures. Let's think carefully of the consequences before we make a move. Let's have a plan B too.
What has govt got to say to arguments like the one raised by Cameron Duodu?

The fact that all administrations have been making effort to get rid of these slums is evidence enough that there is something wrong with these dwellings and slums. They ate a blight and an eyesore on the city's landscape and a hazard to those living there.
When you encroach on a piece of land that is not yours and mess it to the extent of S&G,then when it comes to eviction there should not be a human face. The only face they must face is the law and punishment.

Mr Cameron, We do understand the difficulties these slum duellers are encountering but there comes a time in life when we have to conclude that art must be forgotten and beauty realised. We can move from encouraging slums and create a beautiful environment for all.The first step towards that is to clear the slums. As you rightly said "the cpp government planed a new township for the displaced people of Akosombo but not every body liked the houses given them. The few can't be allowed to create an eye sore. We want Ghana to be beautiful.
