You missed the whole point of this Clear, Lucid,Coherent and Sensible article written by an articulate and cultured Ghanaian called Mr Pat Fynn. I have personally stopped listening to all the nonsense, twaddle and utter gibberish that comes out of all the local radio stations. We want hear news not Akan proverbs and folklore when important news are being delivered at 12pm or 6pm.The Asante speaking presenters are totally hopeless in the noble art of journalism.

You could have provided us with a few concrete examples taken from past broadcasts.
Note too that it is basically the proliferation of FM stations that is responsible for poor broadcasters on the news. At the time of the Akwasi Donkors and Amamo Kakras, there was only GBC1 shortwave broadcasting news and other programmes in the vernacular and GBCTV. So the very best local language speakers were retained and they did a good job. Those days are really gone.
Today, anybody with a few 1000 cedis can set up an FM station. Where are all the trained and experienced staff coming to man these stations?

Bam, you have said it all, they are the cause of 80% of all the problems we are having in Ghana considering the fact that they are the most listened to.

I have more often discussed this issue with my friend journalist at the Graphic Corporation. Their way of reporting rather create problems and animosity among politicians and people in general. And the worst is the degree of exaggeration which to some of us is unbearable. Sometimes, one has only some few minutes to spare on listening to these news but one ends up leaving without getting the real stuff. Management of Peace FM and Adom FM should re-brand their news items. Why does it take Ghanaian Management too long to effect changes in their respective areas of management?

I have the feeling you havent bothered reading the full piece, otherwise your comment would have been more mature than you have put.
As Ghanaians, we need to step out of the mediocrity and not settle for anything less.
Interestingly, unlike you who has just a comment box of limited characters, I have a full platform to make my opinion known.
So Chairman, maybe you should sigh up for a full publishing column on here, since you are better knowledged.

I think they rather need to be given proper further and better education. Because from all indications, most of them lack education and good training with respect to the ethics of their profession. But who should be blamed for the mediocrity on our local radio stations?
A chunk of the blame should be laid at the doorsteps of owners of these radio stations. Then the regulatory authorities such as NMC and GJA will share the remainder.
