Great tribute to a great man! As I read your tribute, it reminded me of Mr. T. A. Osae (TAO) during my days at Prempeh in the mid 1970s. Mr. Sackey continued where Mr. Osae left off. Two great post-colonial headmasters who left excellent and outstanding footprints at "Sofoline University". [Please, no offence to anyone!]
Our deepest sympathy goes to the family and friends of Mr. Sackey-May he rest in absolute peace.

Tusker. as he was affectionately called was a real great men who had the vision of grooming great future leaders. I remember him very well for the favorite sports song."just as I am without one plea" It was an inspiring song which leads the school to victory anytime we had a sports competition with other colleges. He was an old boy that knew most of our families and parents who were old boys so he ensured discipline was at its best. A lot to say about this great men who brought the gentleman out of me and made me a great ambassador of mother Prempeh.

I was a national service personnel at Tarkwa in 1985. One Saturday morning, to my surprise, I saw the Prempeh College Bone-Shaker (the green wooden vehicle) at Tarkwa. I approached the then driver Mr Osei (I think that's the name) and had a short chat. That was when he told me he had come to relocate RT from Tarsco to Prempeh.
Even though I did not know him personally, I was amazed to hear about his transfer to Prempeh given his achievements in Tarsco.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

R.T. Sackey was specifically brought from Tarsco-Tarkwa, to instill discipline in Prempeh College. When former Prez of Sierra Leone, Siaka Stephens wanted discipline for his rouge son, all headmasters and Education directors in Ghana decided, so the boy was put under R.T.Sackey as headmaster of Tarkwa Sec. School, Tarkwa, in late 70s. RIP

My short time in Prempeh College is memorable, I learned a lot from RT he was always ready during assembly to instill discipline and boost our moral for the day. Always talking about the good old days and use the exceptional students as example, always emphasizing on education and athletics. I transferred to another school never forgetting what Tusker( as he was affectionately called) used to say. My new headmaster preached the same message as RT and were both strict. I will forever be indebted to RT.

Today, Prempeh College continues to produce more science and engineering students for universities than any school in the country.
