You can disagree with Apau's opinion all you want. The Andani and Abudu have been "fighting" for years and are still fighting. The sad incident of Ya-Na's killing has been politicisized to the extent that JJ personally knows the people who killed Ya-Na but is afraid to point out the culprits. The fighting still continues till
this day. We are only waiting for the next batch of killings to occur.

Bokor, if you do not know the facts, shut up. There was a war. When the Yaa Naa was connered, he was offered an escape by the security agencies which he refused because that will be considered an abandonment of his people. Instead he stayed to fight and lost terribly. Read the Wuaku report fully. Stop the tribal politics you are engaged in.

Kofi, the Ya NA was never offered escape by the Ghana Armed Forces. Stop this lie. The Captain who was leading the army was so sick that he could not do anything. The military vehicle was not working. The Captain died a few months later as reported by the London based Africa Analysis edited by Zanzibari journalist Rajab. Who cut off the telephone lies to Yendi at Sang?
The two gates are working to solve their challenges.

WAR is defined thus, below.
noun
1.
a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation; warfare, as by land, sea, or air.
2.
a state or period of armed hostility or active military operations:
The two nations were at war with each other.
3.
a contest carried on by force of arms, as in a series of battles or campaigns:
the War of 1812.
4.
armed fighting, as a science, profession, activity, or art; methods or principles of waging armed conflict:
War is the soldier's business.
5.
active hostility or contention; conflict; contest:
a war of words.
6.
aggressive business conflict, as through severe price cutting in the same industry or any other means of undermining competitors:
a fare war among airlines; a trade war between nations.
7.
a struggle to achieve a goal: the war on cancer; a war against poverty;
a war for hearts and min.
By all the definitions above, I think Justice Apau can argue on the fact that one side attacked another through the use of ammunition and for a purpose. Took over a community for their spoils as it has happened in biblical times.
I initially thought Justice Apau was wrong but it is getting clear to me he is right.

oh yea ...during nlc/progress party regime the same abudus took advantage of their association with the danqua-busia tradition to launch an attach on the the same yanaa yakubu andani when he was a regent and it happened again when he was the king during koffours time. so justice apau may be passionate about this being a war but this was a premeditated action by the abudus. you may have your passions and biases mr justice, but deep in your soul and mind you know that it was not a war situation. Any way someday the andanis will even it out. the andanis revenge will move to your highest court for your reaction. we shall see if that one too will be desribed as war.

I wish to ask the writer the following questions which he needs to provide answers that will satisfy his ego.
1. why is it that no single woman or child dieat the palacewhen there was well over eighty people at the palace?
2. Remember the Ya Naa had over 50 cattle outside his compound. Also there were at 2 horses inside the compound and not was killed.
3. Among the lot who died, how many hailed from Yendi, and what were there doing at the palace when they met their deaths?
Ya Naa prepared for war and got all his wives and kids out of Yendi and then invited these warriors from Tamale which unfortunately did work out in their favour.

In fact, I have great respect for Justice Apau for the able manner he carried himself as the sole commissioner in the Judgement Debt Investigation. I however, totally disagree with him for his interpretation of the events leading to the death of the Ya-Na and 40 of his followers.
Considering the emotional and volatile nature of the case of Ya-Na's death, it is unfortunate to say the least for Justice Apau who is supposed to know better to come out with such a pronouncement which is most likely to inflame passion in some people.
Indeed, if this scenario is compared to the game of soccer, Justice Apau would be likened to a striker who instead of kicking the ball direct into an empty net to score a goal, rather kicked the ball to the direction where his stomach is facing. This situation is described in the Ghanaian parlance as "stomach direction". Harmless as the statement may seem, I would like to appeal to Justice Apau to put pride behind him and apologize in order to soothe the pain his unfortunate statement might have caused some people.

Yes, it was a communal war, war, fighting between two groups (call it what you may) outside the bewaa Palace, period. Enough of the lies and politics! We need peace and development.
