Ghana's EC, good or bad, is a reflection of a much bigger problem of normalization of mediocrity in government offices and an educated class much attuned with copying ideas than developing ideas and ideals with wisdom and foresight. In our politics full of cynicism, nepotism, bribery, corruption and tribal warfare masked with party politics Ghana EC has become a bride whose beauty is in the eyes of the winning party.
But the case of Ghana's electricity and EC troubles exposes us as a nation with bumbling fools for members of parliament, an unwise justices in our courts and a presidency reserved for yes men beholding to their puppet masters. How has Ghana's parliament shown us that solving the problem of interruptible electricity is priority number one? The owner of a house under construction who claims to be saddled with cost overruns and unacceptable delays is an abject fool if there is no personal oversight or a review of plans and project completion timeline on weekly or monthly basis. Who in parliament, the judiciary and or presidents past and present can confirm to have seen and approved viable plans for a successful electrification of Ghana? When elected officers in Ghana shamelessly hide behind the skirts of actors, media and ill-informed noise makers to highlight societal problems we are bound to get nowhere. If the security, integrity and transparency of the ballot process is what Ghana needs it is not good enough to complain or pour money into a pit hole or white elephant but to for parliament committee to seek vendor submittals for government request for proposals/services that will be reviewed for viability on technical, security, pricing and ease of implementation. The notion that parliament can throw money at perceived problems via a government institution in view of bribery, corruption and mismanagement in Ghana is full proof that we are a nation with government officials steep in the perpetration of fraud on tax payers who are busy trying to survive than looking to a better societ or better use of taxes. Dishonesty at the ballot box come from Ghanaians not from aliens and if we cannot bring security, honestly and integrity to our passport system then why the heck would the NDC and the NPP give a damn about an honest balloting system?
