Strong man! You hit the nail right on the head. Sad thing is that you observation is not unique to the Northern parts of Ghana alone, but all round., though it may be more profound. I think demonstrations and campaigns should be directed more to teachers and educational administrators rather than government, we are the cause and we should take responsibility.

Poor level of pupils performance is to be blane by teacher and parents but i think teachers have a big portion of the blame. I'm a private school teacher who teaches ICT from basic 1 to basic 4 each class contains more than 62 pupils, i go to each class twice every week and we're 4th week now but each class has done more than 6 exercises and 4 homeworks but go to colleague teacher in public schools and see it serious

Good work my brother. If all the teachers in the public schools could work this way, then we could change the story.

This is a perfect picture of the situation. Unfortunately, however, things will certainly get worse because the government has stopped giving funds to the municipal and district education offices to enable them perform their functions. The District Directors of Education are being intimidated not to talk about it lest they would be fired. Believe me; I am an education administrator. Expecting good educational performances is just unrealistic. God save the Ghanaian education system!

Come to the Upper West Akim District (Adeiso) and you will see worse things. The education officers are preoccupied with extortion of money.

Master, concerning the use of local language at KG, don't forget educational psychologists said, the child will understand and speak the English Language better, If s/he understands the local language better first. Also remember that an African child understands the cane better than any language, gone are the days when we were caned learn, do well to tell the NGOs to also teach and fight for the responsibilities of the children not only their rights.
