A day of shame indeed. I am yet to find one Bible passage which permits believers to physically manhandle a "spiritual enemy".
Ephesians 6:10 "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."NKJV
The most likely misinterpreted Bible verse could be Exodus 22 verse 18 "You shall not permit a sorceress to live."
My understanding of this verse (theologically) is that, "do not allow a sorceress to manifest activity". And this is in reference to spiritual activity which is unseen with the physical eyes. Therefore the physical assault was not only barbaric, but was also unscriptural

Kofi, maybe because Ghana and England share the same time zone, you don't have time to listen to radio programs in Ghana or you would be ashamed of calling yourself a Ghanaian.
Ghanaians still believe in primitive ideas like dying from being cursed with shrines.
In this modern day, people believe in witches being responsible for their misfortune in life instead taking responsibility for their own bad decisions.
You listen to radio stations and hear these priests from various stone shrines claiming to have solutions for solving people financial problems, marriage and all kinds of claims anybody with an iota of brain will not even put them on radio stations.

Who is going to hold who responsible? The police are themselves superstitious.
There was another article of a woman beheaded by her brother in law the another day.
When the police arrested the culprit and sadly retrieved the head of the lady, a group of villages including a priest managed to convince the police to let the culprit go because indeed the woman was not dead but had been taken away by dwarfs.
Who is there to check who in a highly charged superstitious society that refuses to deal with issues as they are.

There can be no justification for the actions of the 'confused' mob and what happened to the unfortunate lady. It is unfair however to imply that Ghanaians are generally unfeeling, superstitious, barbaric, inhuman, etc etc. Not only are Ghanaians 'part of a confused continent' they have, still are. and will continue to endure the effects of the dehumanizing effects of Dumsor. The fact that most Ghanaians havnt gone crazy like that 'confused' mob, is testament to the fortitude of the Ghanaian spirit.

Clearly shows that our nation is not ready to accept transvestism. And brother Kofi, I find your initial conclusion that the lady was "suffering from Alzheimer or dementia because she looked confused" rather troubling; that was a hasty conclusion - as if all mental health problems meet the Alzheimer's/dementia criterion.
You have raised an important point the whole nation has to condemn: treating elderly woman as witches. Not in 21 st. century Ghana.
The sad fact is that our politicians, faith-based organizations, academia, and our media houses don't see anything wrong with this barbaric act.

It amazes me that Ghana people in this day and age are still doing these things. There is a large number of people within our community with mental health but with this kind of stigma attached to it they are afraid to engage in any sort of services or admit to it. Mothers and father's brothers and sisters this is what will happen if we don't take any action. Kofi again thank you for this article.
Quick fact: mental health is real!
