Nation building is no joke. In the 70s, we spoke with a purpose as we knew where we came from and where we're going because NKRUMAH instilled in us patriotism and made us to know who we are as a people.
Remember we had had GBC foreign service that broadcasted our values and direction of our dreams to the world?
But Nkrumah's enemies, local (The Clergy) and foreign ( former colonialists) do not want a Ghanaian that is conscious of his Ghanaianess and the wisdom of his value systems that were impenetrable ( strong family and traditional values), so efforts were made and cooked up through the local actors to make the Ghanaian a paper weight of his true self God his maker had endowed him with.
Then something had shifted in our psyche and we're no longer our true self. We put on masks of pretense and the more we act white the more civilized we think we are, and forgetting that most Europeans that we're trying to copy are in fact socially illiterate but alas, the mirage presented to us is so convincing we fell for it quick. Eeh, how could oyibo be illiterate on social and moral behavior? Oh no, we denied it even knowing it's true.
But we had forgotten that IF WE DO NOT STAND TO DEFEND WHO WE ARE, by standing for something, then WE CAN FALL FOR ANYTHING.And the Ghanaian had fallen flat on his back for the trickery and the okie dokie,
hoodwinked and bamboozled to remain the worst COPY-CAT who had woefully failed to copy rightly.
The only ammunition most of these panelists bring to these forums that supposed to prove their "i have arrived" status is their ability to wear suit and speak english albeit with lack of proper articulation and construction.
And boy, do not tell these on-paper intellectuals to speak in local languages.
There's no longer substance to our very life as we have become culturally illiterate ourselves.

Secondly, where's the train taking you? Seems like we have a run away train here, with serious break failure!
3rd, you want the panelists to speak their vernacular? I can imagine a Tower of Babel, as I can fathom that not all can speak the same language. They don't even have a sign language interpreter, and they are being faced with a language interpreter. Maybe they all speak Twi, the dominant local lingo, but do u think all Ghanaians and foreigners in Ghana speak Twi? Ghana as gateway to West Africa, blah, blah and no foreigners can follow their flagship TV current affairs forum. Situation is bad enuf on the FM stations!
I listen a bit occasionally to Newsfile myself on ABN Tv on Sky. I always burst into laughter when Samson starts reading the sponsors' adverts! Phew! I really don't know why they have to do that. Well, not to be copy-cats, why not be innovative and make a scantily clad Ghanaian damsel appear to read the adverts and kill our boredom! Gosh! That original way of doing is simply hilarious, and believe, is a cheap mediocre developing pple way!
