Dr. Bokor, I think I agree with you. What would be the explanations or the excuse for the government to increase the electricity Tariffs at this time? Even people are complaining bitterly that, they are being cheated in the prepaid. I don't know those who are decieving the president. How on earth would any sensible government do that? Mahama should think before he accepts whatever is thrown to Ghanaians to consume. For how long should this show of incompetency go on unchecked? Yes, if he dares, the consequences are there for him to see.I don't know why he is still giving his opponents the opportunity to attack him? What is this nonsense all the time?

It is nice to see an insane like Bokor talking about inasinty, but it has taken him a very long time to realise it.

I don't understand why ministers who, based on their advice, made the president give time lines which are never fulfil are still at post. I don't get Dr. To increase power prices during dumsor will be one of the most insensitive thing any serious government will do. They should try it. The people are waiting. What is this ?

Dumsor is the result of insufficient production of electric energy. The fact that the supply is not enough to go round consumers does not mean that the cost of production of that insufficient amount cannot go up which cost can be fully, or partly, transferred to the consumer. Secondly, a slight increase in what the consumer pays may just be what is needed to increase production.
The problem is not the increase in tariffs, per se, but the ability to use present and any possible future increase in revenue from electricity to increase production of the same. If govt can promise (and deliver) that an increase in tariffs will increase production and thereby reduce or end dumsor, the consumer will be willing to absorb the increase in tariffs. The energy consumer in Ghana will be willing to pay a little more for power to get the product 24/7 than pay the present rates and get only sporadic power.
What should government do? Put political expediency over economic imperatives?
Unless we know the actual bottlenecks in today's production of energy, we cannot really say if the announced increase in tariffs is justified or not. But government must do "almost" everything to increase the supply of the product.
