You maybe a Northerner and can you write flawlessly in your native tongue as you have done with the Queens language? This is one thing I hate about we Ghanaians. Fluency in the Queens language means, we are at the top of mount Everest. Really?
When an article is posted on this site, it is a matter of reading and understanding the message. Grammar? Well.

Pelicles, there's nothing wrong with his attempts to correct some of our common mistakes in English. He has not said anywhere that we must all speak the Queen's English or that we should NOT try to be better in our native languages.
The fact is that whether we like it or not, English is our official language in Ghana and we are forced to use it. If we should use it, then we should as well try to avoid some of the basic mistakes we make. His series are good for our journalists who use English and make basic mistakes as well as Ghanaian students who come here. Even some of us the old ones who think we know can learn a thing or two.
Ghanaweb is for us all Ghanaians and people have specialized in different things. Most of the writers here just talk about politics, others specialize in praising or castigating Nkrumah, some talk only about the Asantehene while others concentrate on Kumawu chieftaincy affairs. Then there are others who give us interesting articles about general topics relevant to us as Ghanaians. Then many articles too are completely unreadable!
The present writer has concentrated on pointing out our common language mistakes. The point is that there's something for everybody on ghanaweb to pick his or her choice. And this must be encouraged rather than disparaged. So Prof Azindoo is contributing his widow's mite in making ghanaweb a more interesting place.
I personally will want to see more of such articles rather than just pieces on Mahama, Akufo-Addo, more Mahama and still more Akufo-Addo. Haba! And I want to see more articles from our ladies. Where are they, (at all?)
Azindoo should just cut out that thing about God being the best error analyst. It's not necessary. And he should also cut out the references. This is not an academic forum. Perhaps he can also make the pieces a ewe bit shorter since he discusses one point of grammar in each article. Otherwise, more grease to his fingers as long as he doesn't make his keyboard too greasy...

Thankful to you and humbled by your compliments. Your advice is well noted. Permit me to explain that the references are to help the students you mentioned in your comment and others interested in academic pursuit of the language. But in the interest of brevity, they can be cut out as you have suggested. Enjoy a lovely day.

Please don't cut the references. They are useful to some of us.
And don't be daunted by those who think that correctness of spoken or written language does not matter. I don't know how they think.

Is Pelicles aware that English is not the so-called "native tongue" of the Irish,Scots or the Welsh? English was introduced to them in the same way as in Ghana. Some of the best English Language writers eg Oscar Wilde,Bernard Shaw,Jonathan Swift etc were Irish not English.Perhaps it will surprise him to know that Tony Blair and Gordon Brown"s "native tongue" is Scottish Gaelic and not English.Singapore and Hong Kong are thriving with English.Do we have to scuttle the Latin alphabet because it is not native? Prof Azindoo is amazing!
