Whoever narrated the history of Kumawu to you forgot to mention that Taa Acheampong was a barren queen and NEVER had any children of his own. Dabo was the brother of Ayoo who was brought from Ejisu to stay with Taa Acheampong during that time. Dabo became the chief of Kumawu at the request of the then Asantehene who had started some conjugal relationship with Dabo's sister Ayoo. When the Kumawu stool became vacant at that time, the Asantehene lobbied Taa Acheampong to give the kingship to his "akonta" Dabo, even though he was not a royal. He was literally imposed on Kumawuman as a chief and the people of Kumawu NEVER accepted him or their descendants (Ankaase) as royals. That's the reason why, for over 200 years, most of the chiefs from Ankaase were either killed with "juju" or forced to abdicate the stool, all in the attempts to prevent them from dying on the stool.
The basis of the long standing litigation going on now is the fact that the Ankaase family is not related by blood to Tweneboah Koduah. One can easily descern from your writings here your subtle attempt to belittle the importance of the sacrifice that Obarima Tweneboah Koduah gave to save Asanteman. You are implying in your writings here that there were three other chiefs who also sacrificed their lives to save Asanteman, and that Tweneboah Koduah's sacrifice should not be extolled over the others. No true descendant of Tweneboah Koduah will make such ridiculous assertion. Such statement can only come from a family which despises the achievements of Tweneboah Koduah.

It seems the two of you are familiar with this Kumawu chieftaincy issue. For those of us not familiar with the issue, where can we get the facts to read to ascertain the facts ourselves.

Yes. After stealing the stool from Tweneboa Kodua family, the Ankaase people are now on a mission to destroy and degrade his legendary status. To these ankaase people, Tweneboa Kodua was just one of the many sacrificial lambs for Asanteman and as such there's nothing special about his feat. All these narratives the writer is giving here do nothing to proof the royal lineage of the Ankaase people. You trace your royal lineage through Taa Acheampong but the record is very clear that she never ha children of her own. The other time someone from the Ankaase family gave a distorted history on this forum and sought to imply that Ayoo's original family were Esumeja royals who settled in Ejisu. That's hilarious. The fact is that the Ankaase people themselves don't even know where they came from. Maybe tracing your genealogy back to Wagadugu in Burkina Faso will be a good start.

Sad grapes! We do not any clans come rule Kumawu. Move the town forward. Let those contestants produce their track record. You can gather any concorted facts but mind you, it could be what people see as track record. Factual, yeahhhhh. Enough of the NON-SENSE, Kumawufuoh. Mind you, not all Kumawu people are fools, some are really sensible and you can make them out when meet them.

I have had cause to implore Mr Adofo Rockson to marhall his words with temperance in this long running saga about the Kumawu Chieftaincy. Particularly that which affects those unconnected with the dispute.
It is thefore good that we have had what can best be termed as a source of some considerable note, giving us the version of the other side.
Relying on the account given by Dr London and the addendum given by the first comment contributor OWURAKU, [above] it appears to suggest that Mr Rockson is right in his assertion.
If the circumstances of Dabo who later became chief of Kumawu and the primogenitor of the Ankaase clan is accurate, then it will mean that his position was that of a Regent- that is a person placed in charge and who rules in the absence or unavailbility of a real monarch.
The reign of a Regent is not the continuation of a monarchy and therfore cannot be termed as such. The correct term for the duration of such a rule is called a regency. It denotes the distinction that the Regent is a caretaker of a hiatus or gap in the line of succession.
Of course much will depend on whether in Asante norms and customs a different derivation exist with regards to the role of a Regent, but in general, Regents do not necessarily become royals with a line of sucession as a result of their role. The monarchy returns to the royal line of succesion when it becomes available and will never return to a Regent unless the throne or stool becomes vacant again or the circumstances of the regency recurs.
With regards to the lease of land stated as belonging to the people of Kumawu, it will be unlawful for anyone to subvert ownership of a property for the purpose of passing it off as their own, except that which is held in trust or similar condition as recognised by law. Should a case arise out of it, it will be dealt under the Theft Act, an offense of which will constitute a crime.
If the property is registered or can be determined as belonging to the people of Kumawu, then any negotiation by a third party to lease, sell or convert the use of the land without instruction is unlawful.
There is a vast difference between a Regent and a Royal. The former is a caretaker of a hiatus in the line of succession to a throne or stool and the latter is a personality of lineage in the line of succession to a throne or stool. A royal in line to a throne or stool always has a right to it over and above a Regent.
Dr London's version of the dispute and that of the first comment contributor appear to clarify Mr Rockson's position. However we cannot have the Kumawu on Kumawu duels which seems to embroil the whole of the region.
While such a determination will be simple in a court of law, the rules and customs of chieftaincy might differ, so the question must be asked;
Given the addendum by the First Comment Contributer as to the circumstances of the primogenation of the Ankaase clan, are the Ankaases Regents of the stool of Kumawu or Royals in the line of succession?
Please Dr London, kindly let us know.

I think this is exactly what's going on with respect to the Dagbon issue in the Northern Region. When regent who is a caretaker refuses to relinquish the throne to the royals and passes it off to his descendants, this becomes a breeding ground for chieftaincy disputes down the road. No matter how much we may brush it off, I don't think Kumawu will ever enjoy peace until the real truth about the royalty is dealt.
