That is how world economic relationships are formed. Having the clout for dictating the terms of trade is entirely different from having economic independence.

OPAYIN BEDIAKO, ALEXANDER,
IT IS INDEED SAD TO SEE A COUNTRY THAT WAS ONCE ON ITS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TO BE DERAILED BY ARMED CRIMINALS IN MILITARY UNIFORMS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SO CALLED EDUCATED IN 1966 AND TO PUT THE COUNTRY BACK TO THE SEVENTEEN(17)CENTIURY
IT IS A PITY THESE MEN DESTROYED THE STATE OF GHANA AND THEIR VERY GREEDY SONS, DAUGHTERS AND GRAND CHILDREN STILL CONTINUE TO RUIN THE NATIION TILL TODAY.
DO YO KNOW WHAT, WE ARE IN A TOTALLY MESS, BECAUSE, THE SO CALLED EDUCATED IN GHANA STILL REMAIN UNCONVINCED OF THE IMPORTANCE OF SCIENTIFIC TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY IN CREATING ECONOMIC GROWTH IN THE COUNTRY.
WAS IT NECESSARY AT ALL FOR THEM TO BE EDUCATED FOR NON-PRODUCTIVE WORK IN THE COUNTRY.
VERY SAD INDEED.
AS I HAVE ALWAYS STRESSED ON,HAD IT NOT BEEN AND EVEN STILL THE HARDWORKING ILLITERATE COCOA FARMERS AND UNSKILLED MINE WORKERS ON THEIR EFFORTS THE COUNTRY EARNS ITS FOREIGN HARD CURRENCY TO SERVICE NATIONAL BUDGETS, WAGES, SALARIES, BUYING AMD SELLING AND IMPORTATION OF EXPENSIVE LUXURY CARS AND JEEPS FOR HIGHLIFE OF THE NOISY EDUCATED, THE POSITION OF THE COUNTRY SINCE THE FORCED BRUTAL EXIT OF DR KWAME NKRUMAH, WOULD HAVE BEEN A WORST SITUATION OF GHANA.
CAN YOU IMAGINE, THE NPP EMBLEM IS SIMILAR TO THAT OF THE EMBLEM USED BY THE GOLD COAST ADMINISTRATION, AND CLEARLY GOES TO CONFIRM THAT,NPP CRIMINAL ORGANISATION WANTS TO SEE THE NATION BACK TO ENGLAND.
THESE ANTAGONISTS AND ANTI-ELEMENTS HAVE STOLEN THE IDENTITY OF THE STATEHOOD OF GHANA,CORRUOTED THE NATION AND SQUANDERED THE FUTURE OF THR PRESENT AND THE NEXT GENERATIONS.
THEY HAVE ONLY DESTROYED THE SOLID FOUNDATION LAID DOWN IMMEDIATLY AFTER INDEPENDENCE WITH CHEATING,MANIPULATION, EMBEZZLEMEMNT AND STEALING FOR A LIVING IN THE COUNTRY.
ARE WE NOT SHAMEFUL AND DISGRACEFUL PEOPLE ON EARTH.

NPP has ruled for only ten and a half years since 1957. The rest of the time we have been ruled by the CPP and people with CPP background or lineage. So the issue is who has contributed most in bringing Ghana on its knees, on the brink of economic disaster? Don't be a hypocrite, be a realist. The answer I think is Jerry John Rawlings.

Mr. Bediako, what is your definition of "economic independence"?
Does IMF & the World Bank imposing conditionalities make us lose our "economic independence"?
In my opinion, both Brenton Wood institutions used neo-classical economics to judge us, instead of using ecological economics, including green accounting to evaluate how our nation is faring. Shamefully, our leaders have bought into neo-classical economics.
