We always want to encourage students and teachers who must publish or "die" to write, in particular, to do research.
We do not know what "Coordinator" represents - a student or a teacher!
We are having difficulty digesting some of the items in this essay.
Specifically, we are troubled by: "...All Ghanaian TRIBES are endowed with certain values relevant to national development. As an illustration, a typical Ashanti is known for his or her entrepreneurial mastery, and Ewes are blessed with hardwork. Most TRIBES in the NORTH are respected for hardwork and loyalty..."
OUR COMMENT: This is troubling!
We do not need stereotypes of that sort.

So, can you honestly tell which is which, if you have never heard or read an essay from this author?
And while we are at this, if an author is going to cite their affiliation below their name, is it not more proper for the author to resolve that ambiguity, and even to include a disclaimer?
So directly to you, if you, Dr. SAS, Attorney at Law, have never heard or read an essay from this author, can you honestly tell if this author is speaking for himself or for the institution he liberally cites by association?

Thanks to all those who have contributed to the article of mine. Special thanks to Dr. SAS, who has encouraged me to write more, suggested to me areas of improvement, and advised me to join what I call 'the post-publication friendly discourse on this platform.
To the distinguished Prof Lungu, I humbly introduce myself as a teacher at the University of Applied Management. I am, however, surprised that the learned Prof. does not understand "Coordinator of Students". For reasons best known to himself, he refuses to consider the whole phrase and rather chooses a word from it - coordinator- to justify his claim that "we do not know what coordinator represents." earlier, the learned Prof. mentions research, but he fails to establish research deficiency in the essay. He only finds as "troubling" what he calls "stereotypes of that sort", an issue which remains debatable in language and in logic. For instance, Unlike the learned Prof, Dr. SAS, in his reaction to the same article on myjoyonline (and later here), suggested that I should have had a working definition, which would have led to the conclusion that there are no tribes in Ghana. That is a fantastic suggestion. May I have yours, Prof?
In any case, Language, specifically English as a Second Language (ESL) is my area of research interest. So, the research for the essay is more language-related. The dictionaries and other language materials consulted are enough to justify my claim.
As a teacher, I am ever ready to learn from anybody, especially academic gurus like Prof. Lungu. But with all due respect, I remain a critical thinker not a conformist.

Thanks for the linguistic lesson and the encouragement to us to do away with the negative aspects of "tribalism" - am I also using it wrongly?
But the article makes only little effort at addressing a problem that actually exists even if politicians are using the wrong term to describe it. It is not as if a proper usage of the word under discussion will, by itself, make the problem disappear.
The author suggests "regionalism" rather than "tribalism" for describing the policy measures he uses as examples. No matter which word is used, Ghanaians understand exactly what is meant when those "accusations" are made. Ghanaians look at the concept negatively as no Ghanaian wants to be accused of "tribalism".
The problem, as I see it, is more than just one of semantic inaccuracies. The solutions are, therefore, more difficult than just calling for semantic adjustments to be made in the usage of certain terms. This is seen in the "lightweight" solutions the author suggests at the end of his piece to a problem that is far more intractable than he suggests here.
So we continue looking for answers...

I was keenly following your essays on Joy and wondering when you will republish your educative articles here on Ghanaweb for public comment. You have impressive expertise in the area of literature that makes you a national treasure; therefore, all must have access to what you have to say, and Ghanaweb is a good place for greater discourse.
Regarding this particular article, I am equally impressed with your analysis, except that if you had properly defined the free morpheme "tribe", you would have come to a conclusion that there are no tribes in Ghana in the real sense of the word, although we do have different language groups?
Please, come here to debate the issue I have raised. Here on Ghanaweb, it is not enough to write; you must also be prepared to take some questions and some heat.

I agree with you the writer of the current piece should come join the debate on ghanaweb to make his article more meaningful. There were be people who will insult him but there are others too who raise genuine concerns and deserve to be answered.

You should google the terms and find out for yourself.
Both are terminal: JD (Juris Doctor) is a professional doctoral degree; JSD (Juridical Science Doctor/Doctor of Juridical Science) is a research doctorate.

I have dealt with this matter extensively under several queries. You are capable of researching the matter objectively yourself.
