GIVE BAWMIA SOME RESPECT! Why are these NPPians trying to compare apples with oranges? Who are they kidding? Mahama told his people he is one of them so they should vote for him; and Atta Mills said to the Fantis they should vote for their home boy! What is wrong with these two? How can you compare them to a shameless Sarfo Marfo telling a group of people that they are unfit to rule the country because they are not endowed with natural deposits!? Did Mahama or Atta Mills insult any ethnic group? Did they even mention other regions? These two guys spoke publicly to their kinsmen to join in making them a proud son-a president! Harmless plead. Do you NPPians know why Sarfo Marfo is running away from his own voice? Do you know why he asked the elders at the meeting to only discuss the issue amongst them and not in the open? Because it is despicable, and shameful.to be heard outside. No one can compare Asarfo Marfo’s stupid ethnocentric foolishness to the humble plead of the two gentlemen. Nana Addo needs and should come out and condemn it. At least to give his running mate some respect. But we all know that when Nana is quiet over something……….

Stupid, you write bad English and now you have a problem with your spelling as well but you are quick to point out a spelling mistake on comments made off the cuff. When you point out a spelling mistake which is petty any way, you assumed perfection not only in grammar but spelling as well but here you are with a spelling blunder in an article one will expect you took your time to write.
SAS really bugs me about his arrogance and pomposity by arrogating to himself the title of “grammar police” on this forum but what is glaring is his inability to distinguish grammar from spelling.More so he is of the old school where fancy words and not the substance of a message informs his style.

Massa, if you want to condemn Osafo Marfo's tribal statement, then do so in no uncertain terms. Do not bring in any "buts"... You are saying Osafo Marfo's statement is bad BUT the NDC also says such things and are exploiting the situation for political gains.
And so what? And so that should alleviate Osafo's discomfiture? NO!!!
Tribalism is bad, no matter who indulges in it. There are no comparisons here. There are no buts...
In the same way, corruption is bad in our country, no matter which party indulges in it. But your partisan position doesn't make you see things clearly. What will you say if NDC supporters also say, yes, our party in power is corrupt BUT NPP was even more corrupt when they too were in power? We shouldn't buy that argument either.
There should be no BUTs in condemning tribalism and corruption in our country. Both practices are evil, tout court, and both are indulged in by both the opposition and the government. The argument that the other party also does it won't hold!!! One cannot condemn them on a partisan basis the way you're doing here...
Only clear-eyed non-partisan observers will see this. When you wrote your series of articles against ethnocentrism some time ago, you didn't give party political colours to the evil practice. Why do that now?

You couldn't be more right insofar as this statement actually applies to you and your cohort of brainwashed Nkrumaists who can never see anything clearly whenever it is against Nkrumah or any of your favorites.
My thesis for the essay is simply that those who are criticizing Osafo Marfo have no interest in fighting ethnocentrism. If they did, we should applaud them. Rather, they have latched on to Osafo Marfo's statement because it offers them an expedient political subterfuge.

If Osafo Marfo were not a member of the party you support, would you make excuses for him for that statement?
The nature of ethnocentricism and corruption (which you also took up) cannot be looked at through party lenses.
I have never called myself Nkrumaist on this forum because I am not. Unlike you, I try to see Nkrumah exactly for what he was - his good parts and his bad parts. I see his undoubted strengths and very certain weaknesses (call it bad deeds, if you like).
And in connection with the subject under discussion, Nkrumah was bad with corruption which he did not tackle from very early in his administration - before independence. But when it comes to the unity of the country, his anti-ethnocentricism, his hatred of tribalism, NONE of our leaders comes near him. You would never catch him making a statement like Osafo Marfo's - not even as a joke! Not even as a faux pas!
If you are determined to see only one side of a man, you'll not see things clearly! And that applies to anyone who is also determined to see only one side of you - SAS!

I am not too sure where you stand. The fact that people will take advantage of Osafo Mafo's irresponsible, reckless and dangerous stataments for political gains should not mean that it should not be condemned to the highest degree, regardless.Nowhere on earth is such behaviour be applauded. It damages national cohesion and the consequences, we all know.I don't care if somebody use if for political gains or not. After all, who doesn't know them to be tribal bigots? Nobody can defend Osafo Mafo.Is this the reasons why we should give power to characters such as these?

It is up to us individually, to define our priorities, and look at ourselves collectively from quite a different angle. Maybe we will then understand how a Chinese , German or USAmerican sees us

How can you build up lame excuses upon lame excuses all in an effort to exonerate someone from whose lips came the most despicable and inexcusable statement.
You know very well in your heart of hearts that, that statement is enthnocentric bigotry in its raw form. Period... and unless you are a bigot yourself, you will never give support to such a person.
"Birds of the same feathers always flock together", goes one proverb.
This was no slip of tongue from a rookie politician. Osafo Marfo is a seasoned politician and will never say anything that will be politically suicidal to both himself or his party. He was being himself... a true tribalistic individual who thought he wasn't going to be exposed. He knew what he was saying was wrong and that was why he asked his audience to keep that a secret between themselves, but he still went ahead and spewed his enthnocentric venom.....a hardcore tribalistic politician. That's how bigots operate.
When I referred to you sometime ago that you were an ethnocentric bigot, you called me out to prove it. I knew I did not have to because the truth was already there.
You might have been able to camouflage it and fool other people but not me. All that it need was a trigger and Osafo Marfo was the trigger needed to 'out' you as a bigot to the core.
You supplied your own rope to hang yourself with.
Your write ups have always had the tribalistic bigotry undertones to them.
"Since independence, this country has been fed on political chicanery. Our people have viewed politics as a means of enriching themselves and not as a way to achieve the ultimate good for our people. And for such a leadership cabal like the NDC, national welfare is not a primary consideration but rather the type of survivalist politicking which will ensure that they forever maintain their hold on power. They begin by amassing wealth and exploiting their positions to benefit their families and cronies until they realize that getting to the time of accountability, they will have nothing to show to the people by way of their achievements and stewardship"
While the statement above is partially true because it was only after 1966 and NOT during Nkrumah's reign(but I know you hate The Great Man) that it turned out this way, does one need to whip up a frenzied ethnocentric rhetoric to change things? No, I don't think so because nothing is going to change no matter whose stewardship the country comes under.
Thievery and corruption don't fall under tribal demarcations.... the common thread here is politics and all Ghanaian politicians after Nkrumah have all been thieves, in my opinion.
So whipping up tribalistic sentiments all in an effort to gain control of the "GOLDEN GOOSE" is just that.... tribalistic. A very rotten way to do politics and ONLY bigots will make excuses for the person spearheading such an endeavour.
Mistitled.
Title should read: On Osafo Marfo's Faux Pas.
