I grew up in Kumasi - the second largest city in Ghana. Most houses in the city had latrines, where a night worker would come to empty the bin early in the morning. You would see them carrying the huge bin full of toilet on their head to empty it in a central latrine. The first time I used a water closet toilet was when I went to secondary school in 1970.The population at the time of Nkrumah was only 7 million. He could have done more instead of giving our money as gifts to other countries, just because he wanted to be president of Africa. Even today in Accra the capital, how many people use the beach as a place of convenience, Ringo? We are all Ghanaians we have to call a spade, a spade. If Ghana succeeds we all succeed, if it fails,the humiliation and hardship affect us or our loved ones.

In the circumstances Nkrumah found himself vis a vis the colonial machinations and colossal edifice, incrementalism and the gradualism of the conservative UGCCists would not have landed us anywhere near independence. Nkrumah being human may have had his faults and weaknesses but then remember the principle of audi alterem partem or listen to the other side of the argument before you judge. There are many ways to kill a cat. There are many leadership styles. In the leadership cycle or continuum of an organisation or institution, we begin with Champion leaders, Tank Commander leaders, Housekeeper leaders, and Lemon-squeezer leaders. Nkrumah was a Champion leader with a strong ideology to establish a vision and direction. Rawlings came as the Tank Commander to consolidate that vision in a way, and Kufuor was the Housekeeper. Mahama has become the Lemon squeezer, hence his being assailed and besieged by multiple sclerosis and lacking a single focus. You should learn that if you would succeed as a lawyer or academic, it will depend on you having balanced arguments and then taking a stand. Learn to be generous with your antagonist and give Caeser his due.

I am trying very hard not share in the suspicion that you are doing this either for self-serving vengeance of some sort, or positioning yourself favorably for some high Office in any anti-Nkrumah Regime that would come into existence in the near future.
Nkrumah's dictatorship has been analyzed by scholars matching your academic prowess to have been induced mainly by the raw brutal, savagery the Opposition resorted to after its attempts to beat him at all cleanly contested Elections had failed.
Don't think your almost obsessive rantings of despicable lies about the man would change the minds of any decent, morally upright, and patriotic Ghanaians to believe in your cacophonic thesis of defamation about him.
It is not only puerile but also most discrediting of a scholar of your high caliber to be pursuing a crusade of this nature to just attempt to obliterate any little goodness at all in the late President. Not only us, Ghanaians, but also many outsiders have known Dr. Nkrumah well enough, and even better than you, to realize you are embarking upon a sheer evil campaign to tarnish the man's reputation.
In all your endless tirade and long treatise to denigrate Dr. Nkrumah, hardly have you added anything substantive to affirm the diabolical attributes you have imputed to him beyond the platitudinous political discordance that every Dictatorship is characterized by, even in the face of murderous opposition activities against him.
Dictators are not necessarily any worse human beings than you and me. It is not unreasonable to assume that had you been in his situation you might have done worse in governance and how you would treat your deadly opposition. Much of the negative attribution you assign Nkrumah is only a recycled list of insults and general unwelcomed attitudes that everyone could line up to describe a Dictator. It does not prove you really knew him to be all that demonic as you would have us believe. You did not know the man by anything else other than the trumped-up betrayal of Danquah and the UGCC you accuse him of, and his harsh reaction to their attempts to kill him and other innocent Ghanaians.
I bet anyone else capable of formulating as creatively vicious mindset about another as you could do the same to describe horribly the person they hate. Just as many, or more, distasteful attributes could be lined up to describe Danquah by those who claim he was a traitor. As a CIA mole in Ghana as those folks see Danquah to be, his spying activities against his own Nation, and collaborating with the enemies of the Nation who did not care for the lives of the African, unless he or she was a dispensable slave of a tool for them, Danquah could attract innumerable unspeakable adjectives to describe him. But that does not necessarily portray the real character of Danquah.
More, Danquah was incriminated in the murder of his own Cousin, the Odikro Akyea Mensah in public opinion at the time of that incidence. He, however, decided to be the attorney for his family members who were on trial for the murder. So, it is only fair to state that he was never personally proven to be part of the murder. As a legal honcho as you claim to be, you would not be able to discourage the public from making their own opinion of him as being a killer who was never caught. Would you like Danquah to be continuously viewed in that light and described with grossly indecent adjectives and epithets like you have been dumping on Nkrumah?
You have blamed Nkrumah personally for all the ills we associate with those dark days of our History. Even the street fights that spontaneously erupted between the UP/NLM and CPP supporters and might have maimed hundreds of Ghanaians for life, you would want us to believe Nkrumah directly ordered them to occur.
So, who would you like those victims of the Bombings in Ghana blame? Obviously, they know Nkrumah did not order those Bombings intended to kill him. Therefore, if those victims decided to blame Danquah and his cohorts in Opposition for their massive injuries and deaths and atrocious destruction of their lives, and would like to apply every conceivable dehumanizing insult to describe Danquah, even thinking he was Satan's own incarnation, would you accept that?
I have observed that you hate to accept any premise under which Nkrumah could be excused even infinitesimally for his eventual dictatorial behavior. But the fact that you have never admitted to or condemned the heinous, gruesome brutalities your favorite Politicians, like Danquah, either condoned or partook in to attack Nkrumah completely undermines any claims of yours, directly or indirectly, for a moral higher ground.
Your continuous stringing up of unspeakably obnoxious insults on Nkrumah and all who retain any modicum of sympathy for the guy only helps to deepen the political antagonism in our Nation, and constrains any effort or desire for building bridges for the greater good of the Nation and her citizens.
