There is time and place for everything. If you want to make money for yourself perhaps you must consult banks and financial and business consultants around the country for their inputs to establish the bases towards generating money. CHURCH is purposely a place for salvation and receiving advices as to how to live godly life on the earth. Pastors are getting rich because they are doing exactly what churches are supposed to do, if not they wouldn't be receiving such wealth. If you want to check your blood pressure you go to hospital or clinic not to a church, if you want your child to do his/her assignment or homework you see a school teacher not a church or pastor, if you want a healthy living body you go to hospital not to church, if you want to make money and establish a proper business you see a business consultant not a church. THere is time and place for everything and one may as church finds it difficult to cooperate and do all. There is division of labour on the earth and each must be given the respect to operate effectively and efficiently. We go to church to give thanks to God and ways for salvation. If you want to make money know the right place to go other than the church.

Mr Adu-Gyamfi, you seem confused as to the role of religious institutions in societies, your article leans towards the argument that religious institutions should be the catalysts for economic and social development, but their track record in Europe, America and now in Africa shows that religious institutions are not the engines for development.
the first reason they are not is the fact that churches/christianity/religious institutions are not unified, christianity - a religion that claims to be the one true religion is a very divisive and disparate religion, every creed within christianity differs in theology, instruction, rituals and objective. this cannot be conducive to development where it is important to have unity of purpose, this is sorely lacking in christianity and is the reason its claims to truth are pathetic.
the second reason they cannot be drivers of development is because there is no accountability to the church members and society in general. if we moan about a lack of accountability in government and other secular institutions which have laws etc to guarantee accountability then what more churches who are responsible to "God"?? we cannot expect accountability from churches so they cannot be drivers of development, economic, social or otherwise.
third reason why churches are not ideal is their lack of thruth, all churches are based on falsehoods such as the creation of man, the flood of noahs time etc as well as defeatist doctrines of the end of the world, a sin filled world etc. these doctrines are counter productive to society and affect our education and social life becuase they conflict with the real facts of this world, a society cannot develop if its religions constantly fights against the acceptance of universal and natural truths because they show up their religious truths to be flasehoods. for example how can churches support the teaching of evolution (of which there is significant proof of its occurence)and thereby increase the knowledge and diversity of scientfic study in a society when evolution is contrary to creationism (of which there is no proof or evidence)???? this conflict of interest is not conducive for proper scientific and knowledge development.
Mr adu-gyamfi, as much as our secular systems fail or dissapoint in their functions, our focus as a society should be on improving them rather than handing over our lives to churches and other religious institutions. if a theological state was a nirvana then the slave owning christian communities in north and latin america and the carribean should be replicated in africa. if a theological state is the nirvana then we should be excited about starting the Inquisition in Africa or exhibiting gross intolerence by initiating crusades against other religious communities.
In short your article is a desperate cry of a christian who is dissapointed that his"kingdom of god" is merely a wordly and human enterprise.

Countries like China, Cuba, North Korea and Viet Nam do not receive little things from other nations and people but have done better than Ghana that has been receiving little deeds. The piece above reminds me of students in West Berlin who shout about western democracy but take from me socialist bread without what they say was not democratic. Thus the gullible ones tell us that going about on empty stomach is democracy.
