In the UK, where I live, the Prime Ministers wife has a paid job and is not seen doing charity work!!!! Her husband is busy fixing the economy, improving the National Health Service, improving education and empowering local governments to deal with sanitation, etc!!!!
So the wives don't get involved!!!
But in Ghana, our problems are many and describable , so if the Vice Presidents wife is getting involved and helping out, what is the big deal?
Sometime last year, Mrs Amissah Arthur behaved what was seen as "rude" when she refused to great the chiefs of Volta Region at a durbar that was organised in her honour, at the peak of the Ebola disease.
She refused to shake the hands of the chiefs. In her speech she apologised to the chiefs for not shaking their hands but explained that if touching somebody's hand, could spread Ebola and kill human beings as the World Health bodies were saying, then it was time we African found another way of greeting!!!!. SIMPLE!!
At the time, some of us thought it was rude behavior but international bodies fighting to control the Ebola epidemic, told the world that African way of greeting by shaking hands, touching dead bodies etc, was promoting the spread of the Ebola disease. and they found it hard to bring the disease under control at the time!!
Commentators starting commenting on the boldness of Mrs Amissah Arthur by creating that awareness.
At the time, American and European nurses were dying in West Africa, because the African would not stop their habit of touching the Ebola dead bodies or shaking hands.
So Mrs Amissah Arthur's so called "rude" behaviour in the Volta Region, was hailed.
She was not a hero, she was bold enough to bring awareness to a continent that is riddled with custom that was killing its people.
Her action didnt make Mrs Mahama the first lady, any lesser.
They are both using the time allocated to their husbands term in office, to help with our development as a nation
So I hope Mrs Mahama or her office does not reward this pointless writer.
With regard to Mrs Amissah Arthurs personal behaviour with her staff, we will never get to know the truth or hear her side!!!
So If there are concerns, let the employers of the staff deal with any complaints.
Please dont kill initiatives in Ghana, we are still developing and there is so much work to do...
Writer Thomas Oweredu, dont sow a seed of discord between these two ladies. They are both doing their bits to help mother Ghana.

Are they saying that it is right for the Second Lady to begin doing the very thing the First Lady is doing? It does not happen anywhere. The writer is absolutely right in the argument he put forward. My conclusion is that if it is true that the Second Lady is into a project the First Lady began, then she does not respect her and this is unfortunate. Let us bear in mind that just as the President and the Vice-President are not equal, so are the First Lady and Second Lady not equal. It is not about age or educational background. It is about the position they currently occupy. If the First Lady has decided to go into offering humanitarian assistance, the Second Lady can decide to assist her by liaising with her and helping her out. The two should work together. But if the Second Lady want to do her own project, then it certainly cannot be that which her senior, the First Lady has embarked on. We can have only one First Lady at a time, not two. The Second Lady must humble herself to the First Lady just as her husband has humbled himself to the President

For all we know she hasn't even seen or heard about this article as important figures do not have time for social networking sites. The mother of our nation has proved herself during the short time span of being the first lady. She has a natural aura of being a mother figure, she has been sensitive to the needs of those in need.
Now onto the second lady Mrs Matilda Amisah-Arther where in the world have you ever heard the second lady duplicating what the first lady has already embarked on? It is not done any where in the Western world but only in Ghana where we allow stupidity to get the best of us. Secondly you either help out the first lady in projects such as the Lordina foundation and walk in her shadow or you do your own thing. If you were to take a leaf out of Madame Lordina's book the first thing i would strongly advise is to change your attitude as it stinks, as the second lady you need to be warm, humble and also a people's person. People that have met Mrs Mahama in person during state function can testify to her warm demeanour. Mr vice president kindly advise your wife on her to humble herself.
