  Interesting article! I don't know what Ziem, Joseph does for a living but he simply has to leave the GES stuff to professionals.The stark reality is that there are professionally trained graduates from UCC, UEW, and other private universities and colleges of education who are willing to serve in the remotest communities in any part of Ghana but cannot get appointed because of the ban on public sector employment.Ziem! Are you aware that professional teachers who graduated from the public universities and private institutions since 2009 are still loitering about because of the so-called embargo on public sector employment coupled with the so-called public sector payroll cleaning of late? So don't infuriate us with these kinds of articles. The politicians are simply messing things up;it is not as though graduates are not ready to serve in rural communities. Ziem, please, get us appointed and post us to the remotest communities and we will be more than happy to serve there.

  Your article presents some very strong arguments for the University authorities and government to take advantage of UDS's strategic location to help address quality teacher shortages in the 3 northern regions. I suppport you wholeheartedly.
  
  Incidentally the Vice Chancellor of UDS was at Cape Coast University for many years and knows the structure of a University with a teacher training focus. Is the University Administration also making this argument and more importantly, are they making any efforts to make the UDS College of Education a hub for such high quality training of teachers for the secondary and tertiary sectors?
  
  There is an argument to be made and I support what you are saying. I only hope someone is listening and prepared to consider these laudable ideas.
  
  My only criticism is your title which does not do justice to the content of your article. Try using simpler, clearer language in the future.
