It is getting more bizarre, we regret to say!

Angelina, a very interesting read indeed. Well done. Many a people, you included, have identified our woes as black men/women. Until we emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, we ain't going anywhere. Truth is, I think a lot of us know this. Now knowing the solution is one thing, implementing it is another. Are we willing as people to change?
I noticed that Prof Lungu and Pelicles commented on your write up. Can we not acquire the attributes and virtues that are required to bring about the much needed change in mindset, without resorting to Christianity or any other religion for that matter?
Do I have to be religious to believe that I am more capable than i am now?
In my humble opinion, what we lack, in addition to selfless and effective leadership, is a willingness on our part to change.

Dear Angelina,I can see how the mudslingers have descended heavily on you because you are suggesting that the true practice of Christianity will debunk the false concepts and theories about black inferiority and free our minds from its debilitating effects. You're not alone.
I'm jumping into the fray knowing what they will do to me but like you and like the Apostle Paul : "I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes.
"For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:as it is written the just shall live by faith". (Romans 1:16, 17)
Let none judge Christianity by the lives of the fake pastors, the certified preachers who make a living from the gospel and their blind followers.
There is nothing wrong with Christianity. What is wrong is the people who hide behind Christianity to cheat, rob, lie, murder, seduce, etc, whether as preachers or as part of the congregation. For how is one a follower or disciple of Christ if he refuses to follow Christ and to do his bidding? There is nothing Christian or Christlike about drunkenness, murder, robbery, rape, adultery, fornication, corruption, robbery, lies, greed, selfishness, laziness, maliciousness, wickedness, envy, pride, etc, etc. All of our presidents from 1992 to date claim they're Christians but how many of them are true Christians?
We are witnesses to an unprecedented rapid decline in morality and I believe a strict adherence to the doctrines of Christ will lift us from depravity, deprivation and despondency to fulfillment of our righteous dreams and aspirations. If we were to live the Golden Rule, Law of the Harvest, and be our brother's keeper, and, if not all of us but a significant number of us are of one heart and one mind and dwell in righteousness there will be no poor among us and we will live in peace and happiness.

Forgive me for my ignorance of this rubbish. A BLACK MIND -- I have never heard anything so preposterous as a black mind. If a white person has said this the whole world would be in flames for being so blatantly racist, and correctly so. Yes, Africa may have problems with national development. To attribute that to a Black Mind, I will definitely say NO; it is the CULTURE, stupid! Yes, it is the Culture, one of the hindrances to taking the decisions necessary for national development. Is this guy a spokesperson for the KKK, or what! Please we are tired of the racist nonsense whether coming from Blacks or Whites. I am sorry about this perpetual insinuation that any time one does not agree with an opinion, then that person has either not read or understood the article; this, my friend, I find extremely condescending. If you read it and understood it as you imply, then please respect that I have also read it and I understood it, and I do have the right to disagree with the essence of that article. The title alone speaks a lot, and if I did not have to read the article, but I did, I would have been offended all the same. To avoid misinterpretations, the writer should re-edit the title, and the main text also needs a lot of work. That title alone provides a lot of fodder for those who would have wanted to say the same thing, the innate racists of the world, but are restrained by the potential fall-out. Racism is not something one can joke about, or treat lightly. Big mouths have a huge problem. They do not know when to shut up or refrain from provocative nonsense.

and all this writer, who started off with a couple of very good 'brain massaging' articles to get some of us hoodwinked, could do was to settle on a racist monologue with a tint of religion as the 'sidekick' as the reason for our continent's failure.
A very pathetic excuse of an educated person with an agenda to promote a religion which in my view, has outlived its usefulness even in the part of the world for which it was tailored.

So what this writer is now trying to tell us is that if we follow the teachings of Christ word for word, the African mind will start behaving like like that of our white counterparts?
That's a load of bullshit, if not racist and she knows it.
The western countries which are primarily whites govern their individual countries by means of constitutions which are followed to the letter.
While it's a fact that most of these countries are christian countries, it's not by virtue of their religion that that they fare better.
I believe the constitution embodies the principles by which a nation is ruled to the best of the abilities of those in power.
Some of the best western constitutions have simple things like 'recall' and 'impeachment' enshrined in them to take care of wayward and corrupt politicians.
One can, therefore, deduce from this that even despite their christian upbringing, they knew human nature can sometimes veer off the hard set path of CHRISTIANITY and can be tempted to do things contrary to accepted norms.
So if for any reason, an elected politician is deemed corrupt or not up to the job he or she was elected to do, the constituent can initiate a recall petition to have him/her removed and a by-election held for a suitable replacement.
In the most serious cases of corruption or abuse of power, some political leaders can be impeached and probably sent to jail if found guilty.
Italy has seen it's fair share of similar cases over the years and isn't it ironic that Angelina should attach 'behaving right' to the Christian religion than anything else.
Which country is more synonymous with Christianity than ITALY?
So Ms. Morrison can rest assured that the white mind is NOT as perfect as she's trying to make us believe.
If we have these in our constitution, then they are clearly NOT being enforced NOT because of the black mind but because we may not know what we are doing and definitely NOT because we don't follow the teachings of the BIBLE verbatim but because of human nature going wayward... and this cuts across racial lines.
They only have a a very stringent way of holding people in power more accountable than we do in Africa and for that matter, Ghana.
In my view the whites succeed where we fail, for lack of nationalism and patriotism.
They will selflessly do anything for their country to succeed.
The love for our country is absent in anything and everything we do as Ghanaians.
Our leaders right after Nkrumah have shown that they lacked that one quality which will translate into them being selfless instead of selfish and greedy, and these have trickled down into the the fabric of the Ghanaian society and psyche over the years.
So Angelina, in my opinion, apart from your article bordering on pure racism, it also missed the actual fact by a very wide margin.
Please come again and prove to me that Africa is failing and failing miserably because of race and religion but NOT because of lack of accountability and hard work on the part of our leaders and even the common man on the street.
Just board a public transport any where in Ghana and you tell me if your ear drums don't get assailed by all those preachers screaming the name of Jesus until their voices turn hoarse.
If I'm not exaggerating, I would even claim that for a small country as ours, we have more gospel singers than the US by land mass.
All these people help propagate the teachings of Christ in every nook and cranny of our country
We know the gospel inside out but until we have a shift in attitude based on accountability and the love of country on everyone's part, we can be Jesus' incarnates and we will still fail.
It takes hard work and not just marathon prayer meetings to make a country be successful.
Sitting on our asses and thinking manna from heaven will fill our streets is pure nonsense.
For all those hours wasted in Church, the white man would have had a lot achieved by running his business or going to work for the non-corrupt government.
