The top brass at Ghana's police force may have all the schooling here in Ghana and elsewhere around the globe in criminal sciences, police management or may be a government outfit with most MBA holders at the top of management but none can be substituted for ideas, ideals or foresight.
In the year 2000, I had suggested to a CID the need for Ghana police to be decentralized just in the area police precincts/stations mandate to generate a percentage of their operating cost. There is plenty of legitimate money to be made by every police station/precinct in Ghana each hour of each day because operators of motorized vehicles are more likely to engage in acts of moving violation for every mile they drive and more vehicles that will fail vigorous road worthy assessment any day.
A decentralized police force with on the spot issuance of moving violation tickets will do two things in the life of the living in Ghana. There is bound to be minimal road accidents and associated deaths with police vigilance and minimized bribery and corruption. Secondly, the national government may be released from its funding of everything police. Once police stations/precincts come to accept that the number of adequate police communication tools and equipment, the amount of supplemental police income and the professionalism and respect to earn from society is directly related to work performance and vigilance Ghana's police force will become a desired institution with satisfied and more helpful government entity. Corporate sponsorship only adds to the unchecked favoritism that people with means in society currently enjoy and a culture that must not be nurtured.

You have started a conversation, asking people to share their views but you hardly shared your own thoughts on the issue. How come? For example, what are your views on the Agri-Cattle Lakeside Estate. Where do you stand on it? Is it a good thing or a bad thing? I was expecting you to provide an exhaustive discussion - providing the pros and cons before inviting your readers to join in.
It appears to me you have no views of your own, and that is a tragedy because if you see the Police Service as public good then the issue of sponsorship becomes mute and undemocratic. I hope you understand what I am saying.

For a long time I always want to know how I can contribute and really help the Police Force in Ghana both material and financial but was a bit sceptical of the use of the funds. I wanted to equip them with so many thing but I was told by one police officer in Ghana that I will be wasting my time.I felt so disappointed and discouraged and left.
