"That very moment you hear shouts of “O Mahama”, “dumsor again”, “O ECG”, and the furious grin on faces of people whenever there is a power outage, sometimes you begin to wonder. If obviously ECG was to be a human being, then people will always beat the hell out of him when their lights go off."
That statement above captured the exact mood I was in when I came home for a family visit about a year ago.
On a personal take, everytime the lights went off, I felt so helpless, especially during the nights because I needed at least a fan to be able to enjoy a marginal sleep.
On a broader note, one can't even begin to imagine the adverse effect this exercise has had on the economy, not to mention the social toll it has taken on our beloved nation and I wholeheartedly agree with you on the points you raised.
In this day and age when mankind can go to the moon and stay in a space station for years, we are still struggling to keep our power plants running to supply power 24/7.
Very pathetic when one thinks about our failure even to be able to run a simple garbage collection system. Heaps of garbage and filth are competing for space with humans as our next door neighbours in our cities and towns, spreading common treatable diseases like cholera which our health care system is too run down to be able to handle, thereby killing hundreds if not thousands of Ghanaians.
Well...what can one attribute all these failures(I touched on just two but there's a ton of them) to, except the massive failure of political governance by our leaders of both past and present, although the current leaders will win hands down as the most useless of them all because they have turned failures of epic proportions into an art form?
Always a pleasure reading and contributing to your articles, Bernice.
