We must completely change what we eat:
less starchy food and meat, more fruits and vegetables, less salt and sugar,
More exercise and regular check up.

First and foremost, Ghanaians exercis quite well. Exercise does not mean using a gym only. If you take into consideration the number of miles Ghanaians walk each day going about their daily chores, it is more than the two to three hours gym exercises. We walk to and from tro-tro stations. We walk to farms and roam in the streets selling goods and we dance in churches every Sunday.
I will agree with the envirommental education and the environmental courts instituted by the government are a good way to start.
Though malnourishment occurs in many parts of the country, the conditions is not because of the lack of nutritious food. It is due to poverty. The types of food we have in Ghana are okay. We need the carbohydrates because of the amount of energy we expend each day. However, these types of food should be supplement with sources of proteins (meat) and good fat. We have enough good vegetables and fruits in our country. Garden eggs, kontomire, oranges, mangoes etc are all abundant in Ghana.
The reason why we are dying of illnesses is poverty and ignorance. As well as as fake christian pastors who have established prayer camps and do not encourage their congregation to seek medical care.
Lastly, the reason why the NHIS is colapsing is because Government alone can not sustain it. There should be a way to increase the payment from users without making the services too expensive to patients.

Exercise, good diet and regular check-up are all necessary for good living and longer life. In a developing country like ours The poor can hardly afford good diet and regular check-ups, they may be ok with exercising but that alone is not enough. the few rich want to be wannabes and thus eat what is not good for their health, they take check-ups for granted and some do not even see the need for it and as for exercise, it is a way of socializing. Government on its part, need to educate the populace about the need health consciousness, find a way to tax the rich to support the health insurance program and avoid the wanton waste of the scarce resource.
