By knowing the name correctly, you're in a position to 'google' and get more info on it. Just do that.

Locate the photos by using the site address provided in Line 4 of Paragraph 4 of this write-up.
For reasons unknown to me, Ghanaweb hardly publishes photos. Hence, I usually publish them at SpyGhana.
Thanks for reading.

This plant/fruit escapes me!
I lived in Japan for 4 years and had a chance to visit farms and industrial facilities, including Recycling plants, Warehouses, Public Markets, Educational institutions, etc. The Japanese have cultivated all species of plants, and have a use, many times multi-uses, for practically all vegetation.
So, what are the uses of the seeds, leaves, plant, of the Alasa in Ghana, other than the fruit being an occasional snack for children?
Any applications?
PACAS 10 years ago
The applications are several, but this write-up was produced in response to students misnaming the plant as 'star apple'.
Perhaps, another write-up from another person may help.

I'm botanists and plant biotechnologist. Thus, a nutritionist may do us that favour.

I understand. Others can chime in, in this highly technical area!
However, for basic educational purposes, a total plant usefulness would take us away from the nutrition question per se, to research, technology/applied.

The poor man's approach would be to find out exactly how/what/why other communities/societies utilize this plant. Inherently, societies are most productive when they learn from others.
So, if the plan is hardy, germinates in 3-4 weeks, and survives easily in the Accra plains, might we be able to cultivate it to solve some urban problems - erosion, flooding, water pollution, etc., after the fruits are harvested for the nutrition?
ITEM: I did a 5-minute search on the internet using the name you provided. I am amazed about "the literature."
READ:
Antioxidant activities of the leaves of Chrysophyllum albidum G.
Adebayo AH1, Abolaji AO, Kela R, Ayepola OO, Olorunfemi TB, Taiwo OS.
....a tropical plant and commonly found in Nigeria.
....It belongs to the sapotaceae family and used in folklore in the treatment of yellow fever, malaria, diarrhea, vaginal and dermatological infections.
.....The study was aimed at investigating the antioxidant properties of this plant by employing the in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
......The plant could therefore be employed as sources of natural antioxidant boosters and for the treatment of some oxidative stress disorders in which free radicals are implicated.,,,"
ITEM: Without making a judgement on the quality, you will agree that is "Research". If a "pill" is developed for the "natural antioxidant boosters", we'd then be in the realm of applied-technology.

Don't be lazy. Use the name provided here to search for nutritional importance on the crop.
The info provided here is an excellent botanical description of the plant, and not just the its name.
