'Weed smoking widespread among Ghanaian musicians'
"Using drugs (be it recreational or hardcore)is a personal and individual choice.
A lot of people use drugs for different reasons.
Some people use weed for medicinal purposes and very often these individual have the documentation to prove that. This happens mostly in the western world where research has proved that weed has some medicinal benefits.
Having said that, it is still strictly controlled and only registered growers are allowed to plant, harvest and distribute/sell to registered medicinal users.
The most important thing to be aware of, is whether that type of drug is illegal or not depending on the country you are in.
In Ghana, it is illegal to plant, harvest and sell weed. Smoking weed, therefore, is also illegal. So if you are an end user of this drug, you risk being arrested too.
So for someone to smoke weed openly in public is tantamount to daring the law enforcement agencies to arrest you if they can; and that's not very smart.
The law has no respect for anyone who doesn't respect it.
One might get away with it for sometime but sooner or later, the law will catch up with you.
Personally, I think drugs are for losers and I don't give a shit which celebrities glorify them.
Getting involved in drugs in my opinion, is like trying to take a walk on a dead-ended road strewn with a lot of traps along the way. It takes you nowhere other than landing you in a shitload of troubles.
I'm not here to preach to anybody and like I said earlier, it's an individual and personal choice to either get involved or not, in the use of drug."

O dear, please allow the law to work. This abodam man did not behave in any way to help any child/youth in Ghana. He simply portrayed all the habits that every parent PRAYED that his son or daughter would NEVER be. He was not a role model in anyway. O he was so foolish to believe that just because he was singing or whatever he could sit on top of the law. I wish him well though. I wish him to get better, serve his term in prison ie. if he should be sentenced, then come out a better person. I believe that no one would like to see an imitation of his type around anymore. In these very difficult and evil days, we just pray that good examples will be set for the world to change.

Champion,
That's a lousy argument you are putting out there and you know it.
Britain allows cocaine to be sold on the streets like tomatoes so Ghana should allow that here, right?
That's a lot of bullshit you are spewing.
The last time we checked, Britain has not legalized cocaine or any hard drug for that matter.
If they had, why then are they arresting drug carrying mules at their airports?
Perhaps you live under a rock or your drug-saturated brain can't hold up any worthy information or you would have at least heard about a recent high profile cocaine trafficking case still going on in the British courts.
Let's even assume for a minute that usage of cocaine and other hard drugs are permitted in Britain legally, has it occurred to you that Britain is an advanced country in terms of development and that they are rich enough to have good systems in place to deal with the inherent medical, social and mental issues that come with long term drug use?
Ghana can't even keep our city streets clean to avoid the outbreak of cholera which has killed hundreds of Ghanaians if not thousands.
Ghana can't even handle cholera because we are not equipped to handle common and simply treatable diseases and you want to flood our system with mental, psychological and more social issues?
You need to have your head examined if you think every fucking thing that happens in a well-developed country should be adopted by Ghana too.
You are a nutcase!!!
What is happening in this case is the "rule of law prevailing".
The law has no respect for those who disrespect it.
That fool of a druggie was thumbing his nose at the law, daring the police to go and get him... and the cops did. He threw a challenge at the law enforcement agencies with his foolish display of smoking weed right under their noses and the cops responded.
Very moronic and imbecilic of him to have done that.
He is not the only one who smokes weed in Ghana. As a matter of fact a lot of people in high places do... the only difference is that these folks in high places show some semblance of respect to the law by smoking in the privacy of their homes and not in public.
That's smart!!... Kwaw Kese is NOT smart!!!
He is one big dumb fool!

It is not an accurate statement. I have lived in the western world for years and you will never find a separate law for musicians. Unless marijuana is legalized in a particular jurisdiction, you dare not use it in public. In fact you could be arrested for possession of it

Chris Brown came to Ghana here and smoked weed on stage, nobody dared near him. What makes the difference between Chris Brown and Abodam?Ashanti Reginal Police Commander should have set Abodam free long time ago because we have many STARS around the world who smoke tampi in public and nobody arrests them.It happens in Europe,United States,Asia and Africa so why is the Ashanti police trying to kill Abodam for smoking just one joint in public? After all he was not seen walking around the street with tampi, the guy was sitting somewhere cooling off.I can't understand this, there must be a certain motive behind. You cannot tell me that Abodam is the first star to smoke tampi in public and so he must be jailed. This is not about law it is about pure jealousy.Ghana does not have better law than that of ENGLAND.We the Western and Central region guys are monitering the move just like the way Castro disapperaed. It seems like something is going on secretly against our stars.Thank you.

The law has been applied and the isolated incident of Chris Brown will not stop it.
The Law is doing what it's supposed to do, let applaud it and encourage it. This will deter some other person from treading this route.

You said it all, King.
Since this incident broke out, this is the simplest, grounded and the best comment in support of the law so far.
I've written a lot of comments on this case but I like yours better.

Does our law not grant bail? Can't this bogus law fine the star and let him go?What do you know about law my friend?I am not sure you know what you are talking about.Fella,P.Tosh,B.Marley,Lucky Dude and many other great stars have smoked weed in public places around the world and were never arrested for a second. So please, don't tell me Chris Brown's tampi smoking is an isolated case.Ofcourse,Abodam is now in the hands of Ashanti Regional Police, they can do whatever they want to do with him but we are keeping our eyes on them very closely.I believe there is more than the eyes can meet in Kwaw Kese's case.Mind you, stars are not ordinary people,if Abodam does some nasty thing under the influence of tampi than I will support the police but sitting somewhere smoking ganja then you go and arrest him just like that and refuse to grant him bail on top.No sir, something is wrong somewhere. The Ashanti Regional Police Commander,Kofi Boakye should know better. We were in Ghana when he GOT HIMSELF INVOLVED in a very heavy cocain scandal during the M/V Benjiman trial. He lost his job and he was later acquinted and reinstated into police. Therefore,he shouldn't do this to Kwaw Kese at all.You cannot arrest a professional musician for smoking one joint, this is complet stupidity if not jealousy.Thank you.
