This is a serious problem. But I think our leaders must be proactive and also stop involving in some of this illegal mining. Because some of our National and Local leaders are involved in this galamsey menace so they find it difficult stopping something they themselves are benefiting from. I am from Wassa Japa and any time I travel back home , I become so amazed with the level of destruction my own people are causing. You will be surprise to know that even some of our Chiefs could sell one piece of land to about three illegal miners and at times extorting dubious money from this galamsey operators. Now all the streams and rivers I know of (eg. Ankobra, Yaya, Ahyire, Manse and a lot more ) have now turned into intermittent rivers(they easily dry up) and also have no run-way now. Mother Ghana is really destroying at a very fast rate I cannot even imagine of. At times I try forecast into the future to know how this Nation will be and the vision I always get is very disheartening. When other countries are researching into how they can meet their future water demand, we are seriously destroying ours.
Is there any hope for this country? We only think about now.

It is very sad how some Ghanaians don't have any concern for the health of ther inhabitants, just because they want to fulfill their selfish gains. These acts of illegal mining must stop.
