Nonsense. Is it only chieftaincy in Ghana that is archaic? What about chieftaincy in Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and other countries of the world? What is all this silly envy about Ashanti's chieftaincy system? Looking at how any dumb asshole and rascals can easily become a president or minister in Ghana, I would prefer chieftaincy to our current political democratic system. For people like Rawlings, Mills and Mahama to be presidents of Ghana, then I like chieftaincy.

Is this a case of the "granny" should "disappear" because of the "modern family" of the Internet Age? I think I would broadly disagree with you, because I don't think our Chieftaincy is anachronistic in this day and age.
Our Chieftaincy institution embodies our culture and traditions, the history and heritage of ethnic and tribal groups.
In a multi-ethnic country like Ghana, the Chieftaincy institution unites diverse ethnic and tribal groups. It can be said to be a useful unifying national institution as it rises above politics when time demands.
Again, we should not underestimate the important role it plays in our national life. The Chieftaincy institution has contributed to the country's democratic and constitutional processes. The representation, decisions and voice of our chiefs have been very beneficial and important in our democratic dispensation.
Also, many Ghanaians, African-Americans, Blacks of African descent and even Europeans do enjoy the pomp and ceremony of our Chieftaincy.
Yes, litigations and greed especially have tarnished our Chieftaincy but it is still relevant and useful. And, of course, it could do with some reforms and changes.
