Well written and well discussed but you must know that we lack to policy analysts in Ghana who will even attempt to make use good points you pose> The question i would ask is that how often do the parliamentarians go back to their constituencies or have they also become a feature of Accra. At the constitutional review session in the UK, i asked that the 'hail from' qualification of candidates should be removed to ensure that candidates actually reside in the places that they claim they hail from. i got lots of insults as usual, but if politicians view the want to represent places they hail from at least they should go live there and i bet that would help reduce the pressure. what do you think?

The Parliament should be moved from Accra to somewhere like Sunyani. Parliament must not in Accra, it can be anywhere. If you want to know how our brain works, look at the composition of the country, everything is Accra or Tema. 55% of Ghana's development is in Accra/Tema area.

Thanks, Mr. Fosu-Mensah!
It is insane!
Accra is not Ghana!
Let's see some even-handedness in resource allocation and policy. That is the best approach for Ghana, (and Accra), pardon the pun!

What Ghana should have done "yesterday" is decentralize the government agencies. Currently if even a chick wants to a "cold" he/she has to travel to Accra. It's like nothing can get done in the regions. The regional capitals are simply useless. If therefore, one lives in Ghana, in order to obtain anything, one has to be in Accra.
Accra seems to matter in everything in order to enjoy life in Ghana. And that's a big problem

Our mentality. Without this we wpould always be thinking that you need to be in Accra to matter. Spot on here and brilliant observation.

Brazil moved its capital from Rio de Janeiro to Brasilia in 1960 and Nigeria's capital was moved to Abuja in 1976.The new capitals have served both countries well;in decentralization, distribution of services and participation in national affairs by all citizens. The change also reduced population explosion in the old capitals - with all the attendant problems in health, education and infrastructural development.
The past and present leaders(after Nkrumah),had or have no transcendental vision in developing this country and cementing together all the myriad groups in the ten regions. They are still tied to the old development model fashioned by the British colonialists. And until we have an infusion of a large group of leaders trained in North America,to take the bull by the horn in order to develop and transform Ghana - as Nkrumah tried to do - our development will still be static,in the mold of the old British Empire.

Accra is the face, where all make-ups and add-ons get the necessary attention and attraction. A good face contains good members. A good face MAKES THE JOB QUITE EASY....and gets the cash flowing in to the country.
