If CAF can get a host, the tournament must go on. But if no host is obtained, CAF must hold the tournament at bay until a host is obtained.
In either case, I opine that Morocco be banned from 2015 to 2025 -- that is, about 5 tournaments or thereabout -- so that next time they will learn not to look down on some countries.
Guinea played all their home games in Casablanca and are even going to play there again on Nov. 19.
The whole argument is not about playing the tournament at all costs, but the argument boils down to Morocco trying to "pull a fast one."
Morocco must know that if the virus is there, it is there already because supporters from Guinea attended those home matches -- even if it is one person who traveled to watch the matches.

The real story in this situation is that Morocco wants to protect its tourism industry. They do not want their European Tourist to feel uncomfortable so they would rather make AFCON the sacrificial lamb. I think Morocco will regret this decision and end up being barred from African competition for a long time to come.

France 24: Do you understand the decision by the Moroccan authorities not to host the Africa Cup of Nations?
Issa Hayatou: No, I do not understand. Because as you pointed out earlier and I heard you, it's still a fairly long process. We have been in contact with the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF). I led a delegation to Morocco and we had much dialogue with them that the Africa Cup of Nations, which is our main event, cannot be postponed, because, this is the credibility of the Confederation.
Of course, they said the reason was Ebola. But when we see also that Morocco is in the process of organizing the FIFA Club World Cup, only 25 days before the Africa Cup of Nations, you understand that this is an argument that must be quickly erased. This has led us to this decision. I fully understand the position of CAF and it was absolutely necessary to end this standoff with the FRMF.

The fact of the matter is this. You are completely missing the point when you stated that the chances of taking Ebola to Morocco is minimal. How did you arrive at that conclusion? There would be many soccer fans from the affected countries that will travel to the tournament hosting country whether their countries qualify or not. I don't think you are aware of the fact that the virus has a 21 days gestation period which means a traveller from the affected countries though may look healthy can easily infect people he comes into physical contact with in the host country. Common sense tells you that one prisons gets it and there is a very high probability that hundreds if not thousands will be infected. You have also erroneously concluded that Ebola is not as easily transmitted as thought, wrong, any virus that can be transmitted through the coming into contact with the infected person's bodily fluids is highly contagious. A handshake in the heat of Africa can transmit bodily fluid ( sweat) from one person to the other. Morocco is smart to refuse to host the tournament, the health and safety of the Moroccan people is far more important than some stupid football festival. I think the tournament should b postponed till such a time that incontrovertible assurances can be made to any host country that there exists no risks whatsoever of anyone taking this dreadful virus to another country. As it now, it is too dangerous to open one's doors on such a large scale to countries in the West African sub region that are affected by the virus . Actually, it will be criminal to go so.

It beggars believe that some people can't comprehend the decision of Morrocco. I can't believe that the writer has down played the possibility of contracting the virus. Morrocco being expelled from CAF? They should stick that middle finger to CAF and tell them to effing off with their tournament. Morrocco has a tourist industry to protect and they won't jeopardise it with a tournament that will hardly earn them a pittance. They wisely asked for it to be postponed to a later date. They have done the right thing. If any country is against their decision they can host it and let's see the reaction of its citizens. I remember Ghana was about to say yes until its citizens bared their teeth. Shallow minded people playing with death!!
