Football does not come before safety. Cant our leaders think for once. It looks like Mahama and his folks will not be satisfied until Ebola is in Ghana and full blown.
I say this because everything he has done since this outbreak seems to be inviting this virus to our motherland Ghana. I also don't know the use of our parliamentarians if they can't come together and block decisions like this. If Mahama is not held in check, Ghana will be in trouble. Cry the beloved country

One day a thirteen year old boy walks into a Prostitute house dragging a dead Baby Monkey behind him. The Madam asks, "Can I help you son?" He replies, "Yes I'd like a girl for the night." She says, "I'm afraid you are too young for one of my girls." So he gets out his wallet and gives her $200. To which she says, "She'll be waiting for you up stairs." The boy says, "But shes got to have Gonorrhea with Ebola Symptoms." The Madam replies, "But all my girls are clean!" So out comes the wallet again and he gives her another $200. The Madam says, "OK, she'll be ready for you in about 15 mins". So he goes up the stairs dragging the dead Monkey. A half an hour later he comes down the stairs, with a big grin on his face and still dragging the dead Monkey. By now the Madam was just a touch curious so she asked him, "Why did you come in here, dragging a dead monkey and asking for a girl with Gonorrhea and Ebola Symptoms ?". "Well, it's like this", he says, "When I get home today I fuck the baby-sitter and she'll get it. Then when my parents get home, my dad will drive her home and on the way they'll stop and have sex, and he'll get it. Later when dad gets home my mom and dad will make love and she'll get it. And at about noon, when dad has gone to work, the mailman will come round, fuck my mother and he'll get it. AND HE'S THE BASTARD WHO KILLED MY Monkey!"

To be honest, the tournament has never been well attended. Usually, the stadiums are quite empty unless it is the host or the semi-final and final games. I think the solution is simple here. Kick out Morrocco and let another third place team qualify. Let the top four seeds host their group. In the knock out rounds higher ranked team hosts. This way, no one country is bombarded with a large influx of people. This lowers risk for everyone. How many people will come anyway?

Ghana must not be fooled to think that if she decides to host Afcon 2014,..that will be translated to mean leadership or indeed that will help garner support from the west to rump up our health system or west Africa's help system. Ebola has even taken the west by storm and I fear thousands of people will die before there will be the slightest chance of bringing it under control. Ghana should completely abstain from hosting the event. The authorities have disappointed me by even harbouring the thought of hosting. Morocco and South Africa have by far, a robust health system than Ghana, yet they are refusing to host the event because they can foresee the scale of time bomb in terms of Ebola waiting to explode...serious epidemic which no one, not the US, not Europe and Asia has any answer at the moment.Even Seychelles have behaved rightly by refusing to play with Sierra Leone because they know Ebola could not be contained should it break out so prevention...as they say is always better than cure. Ghanaians wake up and do not let our leaders experiment with our lives...because they themselves will not be affected. it is always the poor on the street and villages who will become scapegoats....

AFCON takes 3 weeks to complete. Report by WHO indicates that Ebola has incubation period between 2-21 days. Hence healthy looking spectators carrying the virus, will be allowed to travel to watch the games. Some of these people could become infectious before the tournament ends and possibly transmit the virus. Hence hosting the tournament increases the chances of spreading the virus.
The tournament should be postponed. Even the 1942 and 1946 Soccer World cups were cancelled because of the 2nd world war. Ebola is not a joke and I don't think we have all the information regarding the mode of spread yet.

You have to space the group stage games out a bit more but in such a case, no one country takes the risk of a high number of travelers coming at once.
The only people who cannot host are Guinea or Sierra Leone. (If they even qualify).
Alternatively, Morroco can just host the the knock out stages.

There is no argument logical enough to convince any right-thinking person that in the midst of a serious virus epidemic outbreak in West Africa all we are thinking of is playing football. Over 4000 people have died so far in only three countries. Can you imagine what the death toll will be if this virus spread to other West African countries where we all know have serious challenges with their health delivery system? See how many people have died so far of simple cholera in Ghana. Let's be sensible and stop this buffoonery.

This is gov’t propaganda at it’s best. This gov’t has most likely made up their mind to accept to host the tournament in Ghana. They are now trying to sell it to Ghanaians, but we say “No, not in Ghana”. Listen to the sycophant:
“…..with Ebola dominating the global news headlines, Ghana must show wise and strategic leadership and must only accept to “standby” to host Afcon 2015 as a positive gesture of leadership to draw the rest of the world to invest in the health infrastructure of West Africa”
Maybe if the Ebola epidemic breaks out in Ghana then America and Europe will step in to build us hospitals. They will pump money into the economy. An opportunity for thieves and corrupt gov’t officials to grab and loot. Well, not this time, and not with the blood of our children"
We the citizens will not allow the AFCON 2015 to be hosted in Ghana, period. We dare the gov’t to do otherwise. Please , don’t underestimate our resolve . We will do anything to protect our children, our families and our nation. Ghanaians have suffered enough under this gov’t. You want to be heroes at the expense of our dear children? It will simply not happen. Gov’t of push overs. A gov’t that is always bring pushed around. What at all is in this AFCON? Why not Cameroun but Ghana?
“….Ghana must show wise and strategic leadership and must only accept to “standby” to host Afcon 2015 as a positive gesture of leadership …..”

What does Africa stand to lose if it scraps AFCON 2015 on account of the Ebola crisis ? Will all Africans die, or will the Continent cease to exist. Why must countries be asked to expose their citizens to the dangerous Ebola virus just for the sake of football ? And this inept Government of ours ...... Can they not use their brains ? Why can't our Government advise CAF to defer AFCON indefinitely till the Ebola crisis is over ? We do not want Ebola so we say NO to AFCON 2015. If Ayariga and President Mahama want to embrace Ebola they must do so alone. They can relocate and stay in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone for as long as they wish. THEY MUST NOT INVITE EBOLA INTO GHANA JUST FOR CHEAP POPULARITY. IT IS ABOUT TIME THEY START USING THEIR BRAINS.

I appreciate everyone's concern but let us understand this carefully. First you cancel AFCON then any commerce with the rest of the world stops. Then when prices of goods and services in the region go too high we get civil and political unrest. In times like this you keep commerce going. Remember, a number of TV stations and advertisers have paid money to be a part of the tournament and some local Africans are going to get jobs because of this. Think about some young African journalist or cameraman who was going to get a big break working this tournament...The focus should be on governments putting money into proper health infrastructure. Remember, CAF Champions league and CAF Confedration Cup still going on.
The solution is to have the four highest ranked teams host their group. Group winners host the quarterfinal game. The higher ranked team host at the final four stage. This is fair and limits the risk of high levels of travel to one particular country.

Hosting or not hosting AFCON in Africa or Ghana is not as easy as we think , there are so many factors relating to this issue . One our capacity as a continent , secondly this EBOLA is invented by someone to destroy the economies of Africa . Think of, if we say we can't organise then it's gives whosover behind a point to yes they " that is we " can even contain it , therefore lets start limit them from travelling into our countries , lets start banning there products from coming to us . The economic impact on our continent . The Europeans had the Mad cow disease , the Swine flu and the Bird flu some time ago and it was even deadly and contageous more than the EBOLA but they did banned these products into the market . Here comes Africa's problem and everything has become drama and panic . We like it or not as long as you are black you are TAGGED WITH EBOLA irrespective of where you are living . Let's not help them to win this cold WAR.
