TUSKEGEE SYPHILIS EXPERIMENT
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tuskegee syphilis experiment (/t?s?ki??i?/)[1] was an infamous clinical study conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S. Public Health Service to study the natural progression of untreated syphilis in rural African American men who thought they were receiving free health care from the U.S. government.[1]
The Public Health Service started working with the Tuskegee Institute in 1932. Investigators enrolled in the study a total of 600 impoverished sharecroppers from Macon County, Alabama. 399 of those men had previously contracted syphilis before the study began, and 201[2] did not have the disease. The men were given free medical care, meals, and free burial insurance, for participating in the study. They were never told they had syphilis, nor were they ever treated for it. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the men were told they were being treated for "bad blood", a local term for various illnesses that include syphilis, anemia, and fatigue.

Few points worth noting
1. Prior to Tuskegee, ethics in medical research were not a developed subject. Now you can't do any experiment without proper informed consent.
2. The main ethical breach in Tuskegee occurred after penicillin was identified as the drug of choice for syphillis but the subjects were denied of that drug with the terrible excuse that the experiment was meant to find out the natural progression of the disease.
3. History is replete with examples of unethical experimentation and no single country could be said to be the only culprit.
The reason these conspiracy theories are unnecessary are
1. Even if they are true so what?
2. The more people deny such diseases the more they die (look at Liberia compared to the others)
3. Why will any one spend millions to develop a virus whose damage they can't control?
4. Intellectual efforts must be expended on finding solutions to Africa problems... of poor sanitation, weak health care systems, poor attitude toward healthy living and poverty. If these are addressed substantially diseases would be reduced, and infectious diseases would be conquered. Africa is still in an epidemiological transition and we must appreciate this and work at protecting our people.

Let's stop the useless conspiracy theory and get to work trying to build our nation so that we can be equipped to deal with stuff like this. If we were rich enough to have global submarine forces, no one would be messing with us.

The question I keep asking is, why should The United Nations Emergency Respons to Ebola Center be situated in Ghana, the
endemic countries,if only my geography serves me right are all in one enclave sharing borders to each other. If not a ploy to further spread the endemic to pandemic once again in Africa I doubt.

AIDS & Ebola are completely different animals. For the record, Peter Duesberg has not spoken publicly on Ebola. I challenge you to read his book "Inventing the AIDS Virus". Ebola is a REAL disease, while AIDS is merely a blanket term covering a wide variety of diseases. Many Africans who have been given an AIDS diagnosis have tested negative for HIV, many have not been tested at all. Furthermore, the tests used in Africa are different the the ones used in the states, although the one commonality is that they test for antibodies. What does that mean, exactly? When you have antibodies to a virus, it means your body has already effectively killed it off. That said... in America it is a lifestyle disease, in Africa it's malnutrition.
