  I believe it generally endorses my series "What Sort of Democracy Is This?"
  
  Let us all consider this:
  
  "As currently configured, our democracy serves the best interests of such people. That is why they aren’t interested in overhauling the system so our democracy can be reformed to empower the citizens. They fear empowerment of the citizens because it will spell their doom. That is why they can’t even pass a simple bill on the Right to Information to help the citizens know as much as they need to know about how those put in authority are functioning. That is why they cannot open themselves to public scrutiny. They adopt face-saving measures and run away from the truth when threatened. They fear the beam of public scrutiny and operate confidently in darkness."

  Read what the fetish priest said: "...t is practically in place to cushion those who know how to manipulate the system to advantage. And there are lots of them parading as human rights activists, philanthropists, and what-have-you who, when given the nod to be in power, end up being hyenas feasting on the system that they quickly construct as carrion!! Ravenous scavengers devouring carrion and feeding their own whims and caprices at the expense of the vast majority of the people".
  This statement has really exposed Nana Onye Lithur. Bokor is really a fine and objective scholar. Kudos.

Simply, Mahama is engulfed in deepseated corruption and has no moral right to enforce the rules. Mahama is being blackmailed left right and centerand has lost the moral right to put his feet down. Mahama's takashie recklessness and arbitrariness is just hoorrible. We just have to change him in 2016. It is unthinkable that Mahama/NDC will win again in 2016

  Perhaps, I might be mistaken, but what the conclusion I have drawn after reading Bokor's latest musing, is that he has lost faith in Ghanaian democracy apparently pushed to that point by the shenanigans of a few knuckleheads......Ms. Luaretta being a example par excellence.
  
  However, I am encouraged by the fact he remains tethered to the idea that democracy in Ghana would work once the jinks are smoothened out.
  
  Democracy as a political principle has never been perfect, no system is...much like the other political systems tried and experimented over the centuries by nations comes, democracy comes with many faultlines, prominent among them being abuse of power evidenced by corruption and graft by appointed officials....advanced democracies have this peculiar problem and young democracies such as ours is certainly not immuned from abuses...
  
  With time, perseverance and the build -up of powerful institutions those who seek to enrich themselves at the expense of ordinary folks will be foiled and weeded out, but let's not lose sight of the fact whatever measures are put in place, they will not be strong firewalls against future abuse and corruption.

  I took exception though to your suggestion that"Perhaps some credit may be given to Rawlings when he said he won't admire this kind of ballot-paper democracy. Efo, Nye Bro Rawlings holds the patent to this mobocracy called democracy because he sealed every criminal activity he had ever committed with an Indemnity Clause in the Constitution that will act as a protective shield for him and his cronies and all other future perpetrators of robbery and every crime against the state. He hated democracy and even feared that democracy could bring him down unto his grave long after he had left the scene and wielded power no more. That's why the Indemnity Clause was crafted.

  So M. Bokor is capable of some sound reasoning after all? Interesting! It appears the tribalistic scales are gradually coming off from your eyes. For the first time I agree with you on many of the points you make. It is clear that the institutions in Ghana are broken, and have been kept broken to serve the greedy politicians. What we need is a leader who can embark on broad ranging reforms to fix the mess. But Mahama, the president in whom we have given such enormous power, will not change the status quo, because it benefits him. He does not care about the development of the country and its citizens, but his own greedy family and friends. He has no vision for this country so the status quo continues...We need strong institutions, but when these institutions are broken, we need strong (wo)men of character to initiate the reforms to fix the mess. Sadly, you won't get that from Mahama!

  A copy of this article must be made available to the President. The President secretary must read it to the cabinet for their consumption. Ghana democracy could be best be defined as create, loot and share.
