The other time I was asking a professional what is the trend in other countries that his profession is practiced and he was in the dark. It means that though such a person is paid research and book allowance, yet he has not applied them for the purpose they were meant for.
When I was a student on state scholarship research and book allowance was paid to us at the end of the academic year. Some of my colleagues did not apply theirs for the purpose they were meant for.
On the relation between Prof. Frimpong Boateng and the NDC you are wrong. When the rightist elements, some of whom are members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stifle the idea of the young German trained medical officer, Frimpong Boateng it was rather the leftist in the medical profession and the former President Flt. Lt. John Jerry Rawlings which did everything that the dreams of Frimpong Boateng germinated and gave the seed know today as Cardiotheoratic Centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
I first meet Dr. Frimpong Boateng at an Annual General Meeting of the Soviet Trained Ghanaian Graduates Association and he Prof. Leno and another Ghanaian technocrat in sugar industry told the story of how they were discouraged to practice their profession in Ghana, not by the leftist, but the rightists.
I wrote on this forum how the Ghana Medical Association Board threw away the application of a Soviet trained Ghanaian doctor who was seeking a position in a state hospital after practicing for some years.
A member of the interview board, Dr. Kofi Agadzi of pleased memory protested that then he was resigning as a member of the interview board because he was also educated in the Soviet Union before the folded application together with the medical officer's carriculum vitae were accepted for the interview. That doctor happened to come fist at the interview.
What I am asking to know is that are our lecturers and researchers putting the research and book allowance into the purpose for which they are allocated for. I have heard the same lecturers and researchers saying that the student they lecture are not qualified for the jobs they were given certificates for. Our researchers and lecturers have given themselves a failure mark, and that indicate clearly that they have not been putting the research and book allowance into use.
I made use of mine appropriately, thus I have a library for myself, together with basic knowledge of subjects outside my educational qualification.
